u think life is all luck?....or do u think u get what make for yourself?

I don't think life is all luck by any means. Luck is very random and chancy. Most of the time, we create our own luck, our own good fortune with the choices we make. So we get what we make for ourselves. At least that's been true for me.
I do think luck can sometimes happen. Like lottery wins, for instance, or amazing recoveries from illnesses against the odds. But in most areas, including most other financial and medical circumstances, I think we create our own accomplishments through the choices we make.

i think lucks everything...
every breathe u take is by luck...u could walk out of ur house and be hit by a crashing plane...luckily u dont
unless of course ur religious...then u belive in everythings preordained...and free will is actually a cover up for slavery...

But being hit by a crashing plane or run over by a truck--and hence losing your ability to draw those lucky breaths--is one of those very random, remote, chancy things like winning the lottery or recovering miraculously. Bad luck can sometimes happen, too, just like good. Fortunately, the majority of the time the bad luck doesn't occur. Just like unfortunately, the majority of the time the super good stuff doesn't happen, either. Such is life. The majority of the rest of the time, we're making our own luck.

so ur saying luck does rule our lives...
birdgirl73
08-18-2006, 04:51 AM
No, I'm saying we rule our lives. And that luck--good and bad alike--factors in only in relatively rare instances.

Well, mama always told me life is like a box of chocolates :D:D
but on a serious note. I really think life is made up of the choices that u make. and u will almost always look back and wonder what would have happened if u chose to do one thing differently that could have gave you a totally different life then the one u led. Im sure if you look back theres lots of time you oculd have chose to do something differently and it would have made a life changing differece.
wait, what was the question again:confused:

u dont belive in fate?

I believe in a combination of the two. You control your decisions, your decisions control your sitiations, but if lady luck wants something to happen, you lose all control.
I believe that the whole universe is being controlled by a force called nature. I believe that luck is simply the circumstances that surprise us when we don't understand where the flow of time will take us.
Bah... it's too hard to describe it... I'm not right in the head anyway, but if you are catching on to what I'm saying it would make perfect sense.

i understand, its all about balance...
if luck really does exist then that falsifies karma...
birdgirl73
08-18-2006, 05:06 AM
I'd say I'm skeptical of the idea of fate or predestination--the idea that something is meant to be and intended that way from the beginning.
Feast, I think what you're saying up above is very much like what I was saying. Most of the time, we control our own "luck," but then on rare occasions, it controls us.

Karma's definitely more in keeping with the we-make-our-own-good-luck line of thinking.

totally agree, I feel it all depends on the choices u made on how ur life will end up.

how is karma even a concept of reality if it can randomly interupted by luck...

im saying that when karmma is fully balanced. like for all the stuff you've done, it has already come back to you. so now your in a state of equilibrium where luck is a draw of a straw and something happens to you all over again and then thats where karma comes into play
so i do actually believe in a combination bit of karma, luck and fate all mixed up into one.

karma had to start somewhere right?

karma did start somewhere, at one person and continues to the last person.
somewhere inbetween luck and fate come in?

Did you ever ponder the idea that everything is completely controlled by fate, and that every choice you make was pre-determined, you just didn't know it was, so you can't try to change or trick it?
So like every single movement you make right down to clipping your toenails was already pre-determined.... you still have a choice.... but whatever choice you make was already decided, and you just made it.

Yeah I can see how you would think that.
It's just that sommetimes I will dream about things from the future, but won't know they are gunna happen until they do.
Like I had a dream about my mom's car breaking down on a certain highway because of a certain reason, and had a conversation with her. In real life it came true 30 days later, to the tee, no diferences. I finished her sentances in the phone call and she tripped out.

i don't believe that life is luck but that a small part of those living are blessed, after that it's what you make of it, with random blessings thrown in here and there to even out the disasters life can throw at you

well im saying luck can influence the next karma. on that one person whose karma has been balanced and its waiting for the next thing.

Killing breeds more killing.
Violence breeds more violence.
someone close to that person could kill you
its not karma, its called a cause/effect relationship. It can be boiled down to an exact science. One sequence of events sets off another. Human emotions get involved, end of story,

He couldn't have been caught with many assassinations then... you can only live for so long before you grow old and become weak.
If im not mistaken murder can get you death penalty in parts of the states?
if not 20 years at least
you dont go to jail for 20 years then come back to business on a regular bases unless your a vampire and can live thousands of years
