Well my friends, it's been an interesting ride but I'm getting off this train. Unfortunately, I feel that the politics that have taken over here go greatly against our cause and our community. Which is a shame... There really are some great and knowledgable people here and I will miss alot of you. But I stand on principles and what this particular community has become goes against most of them.

If anyone wants to keep in touch, feel free to e-mail me @ [email protected]. I'll be searching out other forums in our community with a more mature user and administration base. Take care, stay well, stay safe! Thank you all, for everything!

Big Calhoun I've been a long time lurker and enjoyed reading most of your posts. You've contributed a lot to this community and are very helpful. Stay man, don't let the politics here get to you.

Hey guy....very sorry to see you go. You have always seemed like a stand up guy. Maybe just avoiding the political forum would help. I never go there anymore. Just not worth it trying to use logic with people who have the anonymity of the internet to make them feel invincible.

If you decide to change your mind and do come back to read your replies, shoot me an email. It's just my full name at hushmail dot com.

Hope you have a great week.
Onward!

Big Cal,
I'll miss you on here so much. I've got your email address already, but I do hope you'll come back eventually. You're such an important part of this community, and I never fail to enjoy the maturity, sensibility and humor of your posts. I know what you mean about the politics situation causing dismay, however. I don't think I can continue to participate in that board any longer, either, and I know what you mean about it leaving a bad taste in your mouth about this whole place. Just such destructive, awful exchanges there. If I were an advertiser and saw that stuff go on, I'd take my advertising dollars elsewhere. It reflects negatively on the whole community.

Take care of yourself, Cal. Good luck with the baby plans! And I hope we'll see you soon. --Bird

His leaving has nothing to do with the politics forum. There is NO talk of MOM on the forum.....that's the politics in which he's talking about....management decisions.

Have a good one!

First, I'd like to thank everyone for the e-mails, especially the most recent one...

Let me address this issue accurately and fairly as not to be misrepresented.

I had posted a message seeking someone that I had met through here. Because I could not communicate with this person directly, I posted an 'open' message. There was no 'talk' or 'discussion' of MOM. There was a comment that I thought MOM was for the birds, that's it.

Now, there are two associated questions. First, is this what prompted my departure? Yes. However, is it what iniated my departure? No.

Since this site has changed hands, the quality of it has detoriated TREMENDOUSLY. Understanding how things go when change comes about, I stuck it out b/c I thought (stupid me) that eventually things would turn around and it's still...crap. How many times can you tell a 13yr old they're too young to smoke? How many times do you tell a 15yr old they don't need to go searching around their house for the next high? This I have a problem with b/c in my opinion, Cannabis.com is a prime example of why the Marijuana/Hemp movement is not taken seriously. Because instead of seeing a majority of informative posts or intellectual thought, you're bombarded here with preteen and teen angst, ignorance, and foolishness. Again, I stand on principles and my principles say that you don't kids to do drugs, it's an adult decision.

Now, I alluded to an e-mail that I got probably about an hour ago, probably after ps4 posts... My friend pointed out something very interesting: http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=78576
A blatant and open discussion of MOM in the lounge, by mostly kids, that is still ongoing...and has been for several hours. My post was deleted in minutes... BTW, I have that .PDFd for future reference...

So to everyone who has given me greetings and well wishes, I'll let you make the decision. If I took it too far and I'm an asshole, I can accept that. However, I have tried to do nothing but contribute in a positive way since I have joined this forum.

Mr PS4: Please, I have done nothing to anyone here. I have just gone with the flow, respected the rules, and did my thing. However, I'm a little offended that you blatantly misrepresented a situation while not acknowledging the short comings of this site of which I know you are VERY familiar (ethsfreshman comes to mind). All that I ask is if you're going to communicate the situation, do so in a FAIR and ACCURATE manner with the CORRECT details as I have done.

P.S. Thanks for that E-mail 'D'!!

what he said^^

this forum is filled with too many youngsters that don't know anything about marijuana except how to put a lighter to it. also no one wants their online community to have a bunch of ghetto 'thugs' in them ranting about the 'street life'. Another problem is the way these forums are run...usually the most simplest and unprovoking posts get removed and users banned, but the more serious, violent, disrespectful posts don't get any type of moderator attention. it is basicly run like a fascist community. you can't introduce new information or updated information, or even the correct information without someone shooting you down because they don't want to feel wrong. I've even seen posts deleted when they corrected moderators when they were clearly in the wrong about a fact or topic. Opinions are different, but when you try to play something that isn't true, to be the truth, then you are not only diminishing the quality if this community, and blindly lieing to it, you are lieing to yourself too. If it wasn't for the nice plant pictures I don't think I would even be here. I have nothing to gain in knowledge from this place for the most part. In fact, all I have done is contribute knowledge. But yes, too many children on here, they should be removed. I believe 21 should be the minimal age to be here, not 18. those youngsters are really arrogant and still wet behind the ears, they come in thinking they know all there is to know, and what they don't know, they won't accept as the truth. I hate seeing topics 'Fuck my dad, he found my weed and destroyed it'. or 'how do I hide weed smoking from my parents?'. or even saying they are under 18, still living at home, and want to hide a grow, and people actually help them and give them advice! I wouldn't be surprised if someone was able to be charged for contributing to the deliquincy of a minor. And for a pothead community, you would think people would be more open minded, and less disrespectful or controlling over your legitimate posts. There are some good people, but too few amongst soo many.

Hey Big, I think the MOM thing was kind of what broke the camels back though. There have been issues in politics and "a mutual friend" was under the impression that it was because of that forum. NO offense to you what so ever!!!

Plastik, you don't care for this "fascist community" be a man like Big and DON'T be a buzz kill for the rest of us. You just got back off a 30 and the tolorance for your bullshit is at an all time low with alot of us.

Best of wishes to you Big........hope to see ya back someday.....SOONER than later!!!

Have a good one!

you know nothing of which you speak of. and thats not an opinion but a fact. because if you knew the facts you wouldn't be soo disrespectful. And the real buzzkill is what I speak of above. speculation and conversation about the health of the community are legitimate topics. are you going to ban me again for my honest facts, ideas, and opinions? without the free exchange of information, a community will be girdled, and won't grow much. if a buzzkill is the price for knowing the truth, then it is a small price to pay. if we didn't want to listen to things because they gave us a 'buzzkill' nothing important would get done. no one would be inclined to challenge or be challenged.

Big, I have found that by sticking to our happy little family here in the local forum, I've made a few good friends, and have avoided all the silliness that comes with arguing with people who get their jollies merely out of aggravating folks like you and me.

Heck, on this local board, several of us have VERY differing views on politics, but we get along great. Torog and I are good examples. I'd defend him to the end of the earth because he's good people. We don't agree on some things, but that doesn't mean we can't be friends.

You have been a really good guy on here. We have never had a one-on-one conversation or anything, but I've always had a lot of respect for the way you've conducted yourself on here. Birdgirl has a lot of respect for you as well, and she's A#1 in my book.

If you do leave us, I hope you'll drop me a line on email just to say hi. If you stay with us, we'll all be better for it.

Have a great evening and keep in touch.
Onward!

As many times as you consider 2 minutes of your life to be worth potentially saving that of a 15 year old discussing these matters.

Do you post on any other boards? Do they not have their share of kids, troublemakers, and trolls too? I thought ignorance, foolishness, and the internet were kind of a package deal lol.

This board in fact might be an example of why "the movement" is not taken seriously, but not a reason- this board is a cross section of the smoker demographic, which unfortunately includes children, whether they post about it here or not. It is a reality that exists with or without this forum. So however minimal your influence is over those kids who do come here, and if indeed you
...stand on principles and my principles say that you don't kids to do drugs, it's an adult decision.,
then stand up and REPRESENT.

Onward, you're A#1 in my book, too! And thanks for putting things into your usual well-balanced perspective. I'm finding I feel better right now if I stay away from the aggravat-o-genic areas, too. I'm working hard at finding little oases of peace and tranquility where I can right now, and that's not generally in politics. (Here or elsewhere.) Your comments about our friend Torog hit home with me, too. I have similar deep affection and respect for Torog and yet we are different ideologically. There's something beautiful and peaceful and lovely about having differences yet still maintaining kind-spiritedness, and I wish more of our fellow board members could do the same. Heck, I wish most of the world's religions could, too.

Big Cal, I'm thrilled you'll be around a while longer. This place wouldn't be the same without you. You never fail to entertain, inform or charm me in some fashion.

I was recently told by one of the more distasteful members in another area that I tend to blow e-sunshine up people's behinds too much. This came from a woman-hating, not-very-bright, clearly deeply unhappy loser--someone who has had precious little acquaintance with women of any sort, particularly affectionate ones. At any rate, he gave me about two seconds of pause before I realized he was the one with the problem, not me. So let me simply say that I send much love and many kind regards to everyone here on the Texas board. I'm proud to count you guys among my friends.

Thanks Birdy. It's been truly great to meet so many really good folks on here.

I'm glad that you appreciate my Marty Feldman view of the world. I've got so many dear friends of all colors, religions, races, heights, weights, ages, and political affiliations that I just don't understand when people hate or dislike someone for any reason other than their actions. The actions of some people can certainly make me hate them. But none of us can help who gave birth to us, or what values or views they taught us growing up.

There used to be a guy in the political forum.......I can't recall his name...but he and I used to exchange really well-thought out thoughts on politics. We were 180 degrees opposite on almost every issue. But we never once had a negative or hostile word for each other. Nothing but respect. We are both proud of our country and our heritage, and when it comes right down to it, we'd both defend each other to the hilt.

Anyway, let's get back to more high level intellectual conversations such as what we're listening to right now on our ipod, or who can chug more cartons of chocolate milk without puking, or who has gotten to level 69 on the newest video game, or who has ever been caught by their parents holding up a Playboy with just one hand......:D

Have a great weekend.
