Getting your teeth pulled doesn't hurt. You're all goofed up on gas and freezing. It's after they get pulled and the drugs wear off, is when it hurts like hell.
I toked up before I got my two bottom ones yanked. Like I said though, you'll be frozen up so you won't feel anything.
They say to wait 24hrs before smoking again, and no pop or alcohol for 24hrs either.
What kind of surgery are you getting done? Do they have to dig in your jawline to get them out, or is it just a simple tooth extraction?
See, there are 2 types of sugery. The minor surgery, which I had, is where your teeth are grown in, but they have to be yanked. The other kind, is where the teeth are still inside your jawline and have not grown out.
If your teeth are not grown in yet and they have to cut into your gums and stuff, you will get stitched up and the blood clot has a much better chance of holding.
I got just a simple tooth extraction and I had no stitching. There was just a gaping hole in my mouth and the blood clot has a very hard time holding.
So if you are going to smoke after surgery, be very very careful. Don't use a bong or anything that requires a lot of sucking (don't be a perv. :)). Make sure you can very easily draw the smoke.
What happens when the clot doesn't hold, which is usually caused by not following the rules, you get something called "dry socket." I got it twice in Jan. I had my bottom 2 wisdom teeth out, a week later, the most painful of pains I have ever felt in my LIFE! He had to stuff it with this brown stuff and there was a 10% chance it wouldn't hold. Well, oif course it didn't hold and it came back again.
So yeah, hopefully yo made it through all of this, but to answer your question, I would wait 24hrs before smoking again. Anytime after that, jusdt be careful not to hot the pipe/bong/or joint too hard.

Yeah be sure to keep it moist, cotton mouth will be bad for them. And you can't suck on anything very hard, a joint is your best bet. I acidentally used a straw to drink a milk shake a couple days after I had mine out and it bled forever. Be careful.

you guys are lucky, i didn't even get gas when i got mine taken out, they just froze it. even then it wasn't so bad, the worst part was hearing your teeth crack and get crushed when they are tearing the teeth out.

It don't hurt at all man. I had all FOUR of mine removed in MARINE CORPS BOOTCAMP. They gave me some vicoden which was great and I got bed rest for one day, that was it. Then I was back to full duty. It'll just feel weird at first and be sore afterwards, but not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
Here's to hoping they give you some vic's!

Wisdom teeth! I had my wisdom teeth removed in the Army, two at a time (one side first, top and bottom, then a week later the other side).
A couple of funny things happened during this experience. First off, my dentist was a freaking babe, with huge, perfectly-shaped breasts. While she was working on me (and leaning those lovely pears all over my face), I licked her fingers a little. So she got her husband (argh!), another dentist, to finish me up. Lol.
After I was done, they gave me a prescription for some Percodan, so I went to the counter. The medication guy said I'd have to have a seat and wait. Well, by then I'd saved up a goodly amount of bloody fluid in my mouth (which was all numb and rubbery from novacaine and stuff). So, I spewed that bloody fluid all over the glass partition between him and me as I said, "Unnnnh, I don't know if I can wait!" So he got me my Percodans immediately, no waiting. Hah!
At that time, I was part of the post Honor Guard. We'd do funerals for dead veterans, and on off days (e.g., nobody needed a funeral) we'd raise the post flag at 5 AM and lower it in the evening. Well, I was back at work the next morning, totally ripped on Percodan. We started marching toward the flagpole to get the flag raised, but Percodan is a serious downer, and I was moving at like 0.3 mph. My sarge had to take the lead and march us at a more normal rate.
Later that day, at our afternoon formation, I was due for a promotion to PFC. Well, my captain stands right in front of me, gives the usual spiel, but he's looking at me real intently.
I guess I looked pretty fucked up, those Percodans were the shit. After he promotes me, he says, "Son, are you on drugs?" The whole company goes silent (because I was generally known as a pot smoker, I guess). I answer, "Yes sir!" There's this huge collective gasp from the 200 people standing there. My captain doesn't even know how to respond to that. But then I add, "I had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday, sir, and I'm on Percodan right now!" And everyone let their breath out.
My captain was a pretty cool guy, good sense of humor. He always kinda knew I smoked pot, so eventually I was told I'd be going back to Grenada for a second tour there. The way I found out it was official, my captain was leaving the barracks and as he was leaving, he called out to me, "Okay, you can go back down to Grenada and smoke some more of that pot." And I didn't know how to reply to *that*. I think that was his way of shocking me like I'd done him the day I got promoted.
