I have done some paintings in the past, I wouldn't go as far as to call myself an artist.
Haven't painted in about a year now, and it was mostly leaning towards the abstract art...
edit: the picture quality is crap...

i'm currently into temporary art. my thing is, wherever i go, i leave behind a piece of work using the materials from the surrounding area. usually this involves arranging items in an appealing sculpture. for exampler, i'll walk into a grocery store, grab a few dozen cans and arrange them in the middle of an aisle and walk away. i prefer to leave everything that i make unsigned and i refuse to take pictures. to me, what is fleeting is beautiful so all of the things i create have the potential to be destroyed. they are anonymous and with time, disappear. i especially like working with plant materials, i enjoy watching them slowly die and whither away-what is left behind is the soul of the art piece and to me that is more appealing than what was actually there. i am inspired by the relentless iclination to preseve artwork forever-we frame art, put it in museums, preserve it, write books about it, take pictures of it and reproduce it. why? because we are challenged to make art eternal, once it is gone, we feel lost. i feed off of that feeling of loss and the instinct to preserve by working against it. everything i create disappears with time and it is anonymous. i get a bigger rush out of the act of creating than the finished piece. i also enjoy the thought of knowing that a piece has been destroyed. when i create something at a park for example, i track its death. when it is gone, its soul and inspiration remains and to me that is art.

I take GCSE art but I'm hardly an artist. I used to be really into art and was (still am) the best in my class (said by the teacher, not me!), but I don't have the attention span to do traditional art any more. I'm better at photography rather than drawing/painting/sculpting.

I used to do a comic strip for one of the local papers. But my soul-sucking job eventually sucked the humor right out of me and I had to give it up. It was pretty good though, I thought so anyway :D

I actually prefer oils over other media. I love the smell of oil paint. Sometimes I like to just open up my paint box, it's an old wood one, and breathe...
But oils are a major pain in my ass to clean up after and I turned what had been my sunny art space into a grow room.
Now I'm stuck with watercolors and pen-and-ink.
Maybe I should take some pics of my work when I get home and put up a little electronic portfolio!

Miss Stinky,
Oils are the most forgiving medium IMO (and one of the oldest.) - I like to be delicate, however I have tried oils and it's not a pretty sight!
I love watercolours and pen and ink rocks - I bet you are awesome!!!
However just for you....
He He - oils or growing huh? They both are messy though!
Love always - Hall x

I used to draw a little. Here are a few incomplete old drawings that took me a long time to get to that stage but lost interest before finishing. I prefer to work with pencil, charcoal and soft pastles. I had a go using a difuser but were too pleased with my efforts.. (middle image id of part of a brass wind instrument)

Now that I've had a sober look at this thread, there is lots of tallent knocking around. I just adore some of the work I see.
Many thanks stinkyattic. That last one is diffused (a lot of blowing mannn), it's of a very old car (cropped front end) but I figure you might have guessed that already..
The Lab? errrr, I can't remember the context. It was either the grow room, dark room, bedroom, bathroom, under the stair case or in the park... can't think where else I do experiments... Maybe I mean't Lav(atory).. I made too many posts to back track...
First is a totally incomplete view through some Roman ruins it should have taken around 6 weeks to gain form, i spent around 2 weeks on it... far too much detail, turned into a massive challenge!! , I found something better to do, I think it involved weed and sheets and fire.

I took an art class at school and our project was to make a montage. Being the creative person I am, I took a canvas and tried to make my best impression of a Pollac painting. Then over the course of an entire weekend, I collected old polo shirts. The whole thing cost me $30. I collected about 40 of them and most of them were torn and dirty. Then I took them all and cut out all of the sewn logos. I even got a few lacoste and polo shirts. I then managed to cover the entire canvas. Now my entire pollock-esque masterpiece is covered and i dump a big spot of yellow paint then turn it into a smiley fave and write "Have a nice day" using the titles of popular magazines. I took me 2 weeks to make. I got a 74. A 74 for my beautiful message of the obsuring of true art by trivial bullshit and I get a 74. It was astheticall pleasing too. Her reason? I didnt cut out enough stuff from magazines, which was the assignment. That, and she said she didn't get it. Does anybody here get what I was getting at? I wish I had a picture of it but it's more about the concept. anybody?

music is art, art is a form of expression, its up to the individual how they choose to express themselves, some use canvas, some use spray cans, some use pcs, and some use guitars

I've posted a few of these on here before, but I don't have a clue where. I mainly like to draw with pencils with the occasional colored pencil/marker piece of art, but over the past few months have really let my talent go to waste. I need to start drawing again. ~

I personally prefer to work in music and words. For words, which are in and of themselves, straightforward, coupled with music's abstract emotional communication, you can send a message that takes more than just the concious mind to understand.

Im sorry I dont have any pics, but, I make many different styles and sizes of dreamcatchers. All handmade, and no two are alike. I do several craft shows and a few music festivals a year and I do pretty well selling them. I probably made at least 300 in the past year. I traded at least 100 of them for weed or whatever. Not to bad, huh?

Well hell, when I get some of my pictures scanned, I'll post them on here. I like to work in all mediums oil/watercolor/charcoal/ink/etc. but my favorite is the pencil. I also write stories and poems, and write and play music for guitar/drums/piano/violin and bass. When I'm not doing any of those things, I'm writing screenplays and acting/co-directing movies for a friend who makes short independent films, (he's in college studying to be a director/producer). I absolutely love art, music and literature.. marijuana just wouldn't be the same without them.
