I have searched the board and can't seem to find an answer to this question. My seeds have germed and I put them in plugs but don't know if I should put them under lights or leave them in the dark. Not knowing what to do, I put the plugs in soil and covered them in a dome this morning. When I got home I checked them and one had broke through. So, I took them out of the dome and I put them under the CFL's I have and when I checked it a few hours later the seedling that broke through is laying on its side. HELP!!!!!!!

why are you using plugs if they're going straight into soil? just plant them 1/4" below soil surface, cover lightly then gently water them. you're adding an unnecessary step into the process that's not needed.

the usual cause for seed die-off during germination is too much water. straight potting soil, seeds and water is all you need for the 1st 3 weeks or so...
