they have been up a long while now but hardly anyone posts there i think the reason for this could be tht on the main page it doesnt show u the latest thread/posts it looks as if no one has ever posted there at all could this not be sorted out and then maybe people would use them more.

Yes, that's definitely a problem ... a fix has been proposed, but not yet programmed.

The proposed fix would involve displaying the local forum(s) that correspond to the location in a user's profile - ie. a user who lists their location, say as Wyomissing, PA would see the Pennsylvania local on the front page.

The challenging part is determining how to read and parse the Location field, since it's a "free form" field and folks can enter their location in various different ways, and how to display the correct forum(s) on the fly in an efficient manner.

yea sounds good ron the only way i can think of to get round the "free form" field of entering their locations is have a list where u select your location from. the thing is it would be one very long list. thanks for getting back on this and letting us know what is being done to resolve it :)

After some tinkering around, it's finally working. Folks can now customize the local forum shown towards the top of the main page...

To do this, simply click back to the message boards home page http://boards.cannabis.com/ and then click the link "Click here to set your CANNABIS.COM Local forum." ... this links to the Edit Profile menu - scroll to the bottom and select the local forum of your choice and click save.

Thank you..and please,by all means,if I ever step out of line-let me know..Sinsemillia Jones,pointed out to me the other day,that I might cause trouble for y'all,if I continue to post articles in their entirety,and without a hot-link for the article..please let me know if should start using excerpts with hot-links instead,the last thing I want to do-is cause trouble for y'all.
