Its an endless debate. Each side has its reasons. I believe plants need light more then they need to rest. However, I run an 18/6 when the clones are young and unrooted. This reduces stress. Once they are big enough, I generally go 24/7 until I am ready to flower.
That being said, 6 hours of lights off is a considerable savings in electricity and bulb life and keeps temps low. Compromise, run a 20/4.

highweed , unless u have alot of height to grow in i wouldn't vegg them at all or i was it would only be 1/3 days under 18/6 just help the roots grow a little more , i my like to keep the plants to a managable height so are soon as i see the roots coming outta the rooting blocks i transplant them in the pots for flowering ( 5litre pots) and switch them to 11/13 ( dark / light ) the plants end up 2and half to 3 foot tall , each produces 30/50 grams of dried bud . the good this is u can grow 28 of these plants in a 4x4 room . thats a min of 28 ounces every 8/10 weeks .
these are sum of my plants . the larger ones where mothers that i flowered hence the height of them .
