I was wondering if anyone out there is aware of what the scientific reasoning is to why marijuana dries ones saliva. I am in the process of writing an essay on the benefits of medical marijuana and would like to find out this information and have had no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry. Call me crazy, but I see that as more of an unwanted side-effect than having medicinal value.
Other than that, there are many scientific articles written on the subject of medicinal marijuana. You can start here http://www.norml.com/index.cfm?Group_ID=3472 if you haven't been there already.

I do not think you are crazy. You would be surpised as to how it is a benefit. I had a brother who passed away from ALS aka Lou Gehrigs Disease and his throat muscles were paralyzed and he could not swallow his own spit without choking. Marijuana was a great alternative to constantly drooling and/or choking. There are also other GI diseases that benefit for the same reasons.
Thanks for the website address....I will check it out.

And the government's information isn't biased?
I myself suffer from MD, a form very close to ALS. I'm very sorry to hear about your brother.

I don't feel like doing it for you tonight:stoned: , but here what you need to research it. Do a search on--cannabis abstract saliva -- you'll have to wade through the "saliva test" articles, but you should find what you need with a little looking. The word "abstract" narrows it down to scientific articles for the most part. Good luck!
