Cocaine is both a central nervous system stimulant and a topical anaesthetic. It is found in the leaves of the Erthroxylum coca plant. The traditional method of coca use is to "chew" the leaves (the leaves are actually not chewed so much as sucked, producing a mild stimulation. Outside of South America it is generally used in its more refined and extracted forms: either powder cocaine, or freebase cocaine which produce much stronger effects than "chewing" the leaves. The term "Crack" is alternately used to refer to street quality freebase cocaine, or to refer to the product of a particular manufacturing process which uses sodium bicarbonate rather than a flammable solvent. Powdered cocaine is generally insufflated (snorted) and crack / freebase cocaine is generally smoked. Smoking freebase cocaine causes a strong, short-lived peak of about 3-5 minutes, while snorting cocaine provides a lower high with major effects lasting closer to 15 - 30 minutes.


PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS:
Varies with dose and the tolerance of the user. Increases alertness, wakefulness, elevates the mood, mild to high degree of euphoria, increases athletic performance, decreases fatigue, clearer thinking, increases concentration, increases energy, increased irritability, insomnia, restlessness. With high doses may exhibit a pattern of psychosis with confused and disorganized behavior, irritability, fear, paranoia, hallucinations, may become extremely antisocial and aggressive.


PHYSICAL EFFECTS:
Inceases heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and sweating. Increases speed of respiration, dilates the pupils, decreased sleep and appetite. Can decrease seizure threshold and is associated with seizures, strokes, and heart attacks in susceptible individuals.


WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS:
Although cocaine does not cause dangerous physical addiction, discontinuing regular use can lead to a wide varieties of unpleasant withdrawal and craving symptoms, including: intense cravings for more cocaine, hunger, irritability, apathy, depression, paranoia, suicidal ideation, loss of sex drive, insomnia or excessive sleep. Often, individuals simply take more cocaine to reduce these effects, leading to a pattern of addiction and habituation.


OVERDOSE SYMPTOMS:
Agitation, hostility, hallucinations, convulsions, high body tempertature (hyperthermia), stroke, heart attack, and possibly death.

People with latent congenital heart defects, high blood pressure, or thyroid problems are at higher risk of dangerous reactions and heart failture with the recreational use of cocaine.


LONG-TERM USE:
Heavy, regular use of cocaine is known to cause restlessness, anxiety, hyperexcitability, paranoia, irritability, insomnia, weight loss, and a variety of other less acute psychological symptoms. Insufflation of any substance can lead to damaging the cartiledge and mucosa in the nose, eventually leading to a hole in the septum (the soft structure separating the nostils). If injected, cocaine use can lead to a wide variety of problems including life-threatening infections, shared needle-related blood diseases, etc.

Best to leave coke for an odd treat. One of my uni friends is has to use a nose inhaler thing everyday to try and bring back the circulation to his septum. Of all the drugs I've ever tried, coke was the one I found to be ovehyped, and its a selfish, dangerous drug-makes people do odd things. Also bloody expensive. Its more the social thing of cutiing lines, like passing a joint-just a cool thing to do on a night out. Watch it though or it might consume you-my friends spent over a grand to fund his coke habit, sometimes doing 2g in a single night.

ya coke makes you feel so fucking great, and you think so much you work things out in your mind that you are thinking about and you also seem to build stronger relationships with close one's ur around wether they are on it or not. at least thats the good i have gotten out of it, i've never had a bad time with coke. except the first itme i did it when i came down i felt like i could puke but never did.

also when ur coming down it helps to have some beer so that you dont feel totally shitty.

Coke is a 15 to 20 min. high. Then you have to go back an do another line or two if you're like I was. It is fun for social events with friends but after a while it get very old and very costly. Then comes the after affects. My smeller hasn't been working since I stopped. Constant clogs, bad syniouse's, etc. The list can go on an on. Do you liek the smell of weed. Me to but because of my past coke experiance's I can't even smell it. Good thing I can taste it thou. Stick with weed bro. Coke only waste's money and time you could have been smoking. Of course you control what you want so if you like coke and keep doing it you most likely will end up with a smeller like mine. All jacked up. Then there's the guilt of not listening to the advice of those that have done what you did and warned you before hand. Think about it. We could be saving you a lot of money and problems.

Hmm... I think you're the only one in the entire world who believes that. Not to be rude, but I think you're probably fooling yourself. Coke, in the long run, when done regularly has been very much proven to fuck people, royally, in their behind.

I agree...it dose make you feel closer to people. But it is a bad drug, and a waste of money, you pay alot of money for that 30 min. high here and there, but in the long run its not worth it. I do it every Friday, because

1. I cant afford it
2. I dont want to become a coke head
3. I go out every Friday

Its not that bad if you know what you are doing, however, its not something Id pressure anyone to try, or ask anyone to try. I cant say I wish Id never done it, cause it is the best feeling in the world, but its not a good thing, trust me.

yea man, slow down. no matter what, ull never get that first-time-high-on-coke feeling... it just gets worse and its a bad addiction. i got up to doing 8balls all to my face. its so good... but so bad at the same time. you hate it and you love it. coke took me in the first time i did it. after that day... i started doing it daily for 3 months. cocaine addiction is in my family, my parents almost split up right before i was born cuz my dad was doing alot of it

and i didnt find this out until my parents caught me with coke and my older brother told me about it. haha fucked up, right? my little brother and sister dont know yet either

i might try it some time in the future if it's offered, but until then im gonna stick to weed, shrooms, and salvia. if your looking to connect with yourself on a superior level, salvia extract is your answer.
