you are going to have to try different soils for yourself and see what works best for you
i have grown with mg soil with great results,fox farm has some great soil mixes and soiless mixes,i am currently using promix bx which works great also(but more expensive than mg and harder to find).also another great medium is coco and perlite which i may try on my next grow.

We use Special Mix which comes in a Gold bag but has no manufacturer's livery on it.

We are currently testing Plagron All Mix and Canna Coco alongside our regular Special Mix. If u get your nutrients right I think you can grow in any good draining medium.
