OKay I have a Peter Tosh movie, and in it he says weed is anti fungal and anti viral. Is this true? Also I think it speeds up your metabolism, resulting in more calories burned, especially if you don't eat while stoned? So, is marijuana a benefit to losing fat/detoxing from unhealthy stuff?

When you want some scientific data about cannabis just run a search on --cannabis abstract and whatever disease you are looking for. There is SO much scientific literature on cannabis and how it heals. It is a crime against humanity that cannabis is illegal. Cancer, MS, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke--all of them can be treated with cannabis. The info is out there if you look. My medical notebook of these studies that say cannabis cures and heals is over 200 pages long. Most of the articles are just one page long! Kids, try this at home-run a search for any disease in your family... say glioma (a nasty brain cancer) and cannabis abstract. See what you get! I dare you to educate yourselves!

i know this is an old post, but i thought i'd provide this article.
Marijuana as an anti-viral drug? (http://www.innovations-report.com/html/reports/medicine_health/report-33489.html)
in the article that storm crow posted, it claims that "Both herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) failed, in an identical fashion to replicate and produce extensive c.p.e. in human cell monolayer cultures which were exposed (8 h before infection, at infection, or 8 h p.i.) to various concentrations of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol."
in the article that i just posted, it claims that "The researchers showed that THC acts specifically on gamma herpes viruses, as the chemical was unable to prevent the reactivation of another related virus, herpes simplex-1, which causes cold sores. "
i get cold sores fairly often and smoke regularly, usually in moderate doses, sometimes heavy doses. i've used marijuana oil on cold sores, didn't seem to help much if any. i've smoked marijuana while ive had cold sores, but can't notice much difference. but i also use prescription anti virals and tea tree oil on cold sores so this could mask the effects of the marijuana.
just my .02

oh and as far as the metabolism thing...i really doubt it speeds up your metabolism. this is the first time i've read anything about marijuana effecting metabolism.
