Did anyone else notice that these "above the influence" ads are full of shit? Like the one where the girl is on the couch flat and her friend says that shes no fun, total bullshit. They make it seem like we do nothing but get stoned and then sit around all day and never have any fun. The website is stupid too. Here are some quotes from the information about weed.

"Can you become addicted to marijuana? Actually, yes. More teens are in treatment with a primary diagnosis of marijuana dependence than for all other illicit drugs combined. Smoking marijuana also causes some changes in the brain similar to those caused by long-term use of cocaine and heroin. THC is the chemical that causes some smokers to develop tolerance to its effects and need more of the drug, leading to addiction. one joint is equal to four cigarettes. Marijuana has no reacognized medical value."

TOTAL BULLSHIT. :cursing:cursing:cursing:

I hate these stupid ass comercials that talk about how smoking weed is caused by peer pressure. That's I lie. Nobody peer pressures somebody into smoking weed, they just suggest to their friend. If the friend says yes, they woud probably do it neway. If somebody actually did hav a weak enough will to smoke weed just cuz their friends told them 2, they might as well be smoking weed neway, to forget how goddam pathetic they r. The ppeer pressure lie probably came from sum kid who told his parents that, so they wouldn't yell at him for smoking pot.

I think they just ignore the option of moderation and the possibility of smoking responsibly. (Though we have commercials telling us we can drink responsibly.)

exactly. more people do stupid stuff on alchahol than weed, so idk what kind of shit they are trying to pull.

I thought that one was true but I dont see any reason not to just sit around if you have nothing to do.:rasta:

See, somebody should start a site with a paypal account that people can donate to so that we finally have enough money to run some pro-weed ads.

one radio commercial i heard was about pete's couch or something. they were like "No i'm not out driving in a car, careless and drunk, i'm stoned and on pete's couch, save. i'm not blah blah blah, but i'm safe on pete's couch. i could be on a date, but i'm on pete's couch. i didn't die from a car accident. i died in a different way." or something. regardless, it was stupid.

those ads are ridiculous. I can understand trying to convince kids to not do drugs, but come on now. Outright lying to America's youth is just wrong! Instead of spending the millions of dollars a year on restricting marijuana use (I say restricting only because we all know if we want some weed bad enough, we can get it, it's just a matter of finding it), why not try putting into medical research, the piss-poor economy, or something a little more useful. To say weed destroys lives is bullshit. It's not the weed destroying lives, it's the people destroying themselves. I'm an Honor-Merit roll graduate and I smoked my ENTIRE senior year (going to school baked for the last 1/4 of the school year), and I did fine.

Fuck anti-pot ads, fuck the movement against pot, and fuck the people supporting it.

sorry for the rant, but I get worked up when defending the Green Spirit

What I'm wondering, after reading the last few sentences, is:

A. Do these people have any idea how to get a real point across, and follow a thought from begining to end?

B. I seriously think they just copy and pasted the last two or three sentences straight from one of Regan's long-since disproven "monkey-with-a-gas-mask" test results. Read them two or three times... it makes me laugh at how stupid they sound in paragraph form like that... and I haven't even vaped yet today!

I have one word about the nation we live in. Hipocracy. Alcohol is widely accepted with all these commercials for beer, vodka, etc. When in fact alcohol is soooo much worse that weed in every way. There has never been a death directly linked to marijuana simply because if you smoke that much you would just fall asleep. Alcohol cause so many deaths a year just in poisoning (sp). Those commercials are bull shit. I did not start smoking weed because my friends pressured me. I just wanted to; it was my choice.

More teens are in treatment for marijuana, that doesnt mean we're overrun with marijuana "dope fiends" trying to get theres next "fix" of marijuana. What that means is that a crap load of kids are getting busted and being FORCED to go to treatment.

We have to ask ourselves why they feel it is necessary to air such ads. The answer is simple: they're afraid of us. You don't see commercials against crystal meth or heroin, because everybody knows those drugs can seriously fuck you up. But with cannabis, there is a large sector of the population that is figuring out it really isn't as bad as the government says it is, so they feel the need to make whatever propaganda they can muster up to support their policies. They aren't going to give up the War on Drugs without a fight. These commercials should actually encourage us, because it is proof that the system sees our movement as a real threat to the status quo. Plus, the lies are getting more and more pathetic. Remember how the old ads used to say marijuana caused cancer and flattened brain waves and shit? Well, they lost those arguments, so now they're stuck with "it turns you into a flat blob-like creature". People aren't stupid. They can see right through the lies and with enough time they will demolish them once and for all.
