Hey, My buds have been hanging for 4 days and they feel crispy. They are hanging in my closet in full dark with a fan and its about 75-70 degrees F. in there. They dont feel or look like buds you buy from a dealer, they look like buds you snip off you plant and put in the oven to dry. What could I be doing wrong??? Im upset because befor I cut the plant down they smelt so good and looked so nice now they look shitty and smell like wet grass.

Well it's only been four days. This type of thing takes a week atleast or maybe 2 weeks. After that cure them to re-moisten the inside of the bud and out. Trust me you'll be happy, and yes you are doing it right. Also when it's all done you might wanna just remove a little bit more of those leaves :p.

if you work the scissors a little more they'll look more like what ya buy...also they're ready for the curring chamber if the outside feels crispy. i use mason jars and pack very loosely while opening the lid for 30 mins twice/day, every day until the center of the bud is ready for smoking (20-30 days depending on ambient humidity) and i store in the fridge when done.

Im hanging them for 2 weeks then putting them in a mason jar for 1 week.

2 weeks hanging is awfully long if you're planning on a cure. they'll be way too dry by then...

i urge you to begin curring them as soon as the exterior of the buds feel dry and somewhat crispy, usually no more than 4-5 days and 2-3 days around here due to single digit humidity. curring is all about drying as slow as one can so chloroform can be converted, which is how it smooths out from the process. drying your way will keep them harsh and green tasting as it'll be too late for any cure to do any good.

Thats because when a plant is fresh or just cut 70% (I believe thats the percentage) of the plants weight is water.
