I quit smoking cigarettes quite some time ago and I have no desire to smoke tobacco, but I was thinking of growing some for fun and give it away to my friends who smoke.

It would be interesting to see what it turns out like, and I'm sure it would be much healthier than commercial cigarettes. And they say it's a nice big plant for the garden and has nice colored flowers.

And you could also save lot of money in cigarette taxes if you got good at growing/harvesting tobacco. :)

You need to research the plant first.. google works wonders. If you're in the states i'm pretty sure you need a license to grow it otherwise it's deemed illegal. Either way, good luck.. you'll need it.

Tobacco requires very, very hot conditions to grow in. Other than that, good luck finding clones or seeds to grow it.

I dont think it has to be too hot. Down in South-western Ontario (near London area) theres tobacco farmers

I'm guessing at least 30degC.

Even in Ontario, it gets very, very hot, and it probably can get to 30degC on some summer days, in the shade.

I'm guessing tobacco likes the hot, dry sunshine, so I'm just saying, if you're going to grow it, do it outside in the blazing hot sunshine.

You could probably grow it if it's hot enough outdoors in your area. Doing it inside you'll need heaters, and your house will be hotter than shit too.

Good luck with that. Those leaves are freakin huge compated to weed. Have fun curing all of it. If you can pull it off, then you may have something, but read up on it. I'm sure there's a forum somewhere dedicated to nothing but tobacco farming.

My granpa used to grow tobbacco...it's easy! I can't remember how many, but he had several acres growing on his farm. When I was a kid, I'd roll up the dried leaves into cigars. Tasted like shit, but I thought it was coolest thing, lol! I was 10, btw, and worked my ass off housing, and stripping the shit. They wouldn't let me cut, but they 'made' me do the rest...
