Do hermies diminish potency?

If a plant goes hermy on me, does that diminish the potency or just the yield?

Is it a real hermaphrodite or just a female with a few banana male flowers? Clusters of balls with male flowers are an indication of a hermaphrodite, where single male flowers can appear on a true female (XX).

These females can produce seeds that are ALL female AKA XX seeds. Problem is not all of the pollen is viable.

Back to your question;

If the hermaphrodite gets little white seeds then they can taste bad. I had a hermie plant I called "Black Spice" It went so dark red that it almost looked black to me. Amazingly stony too, but the flavor was not my favorite. Very strong and spicy almost like a dark red wine. I digress..

I think it will hurt mostly the yield.

Yeah your yield well go down because it starts to think it needs to make seeds not flowers the flowers have served there purpose. The less pistols you see the more its seeded. See this Flodica bud dried its totally seeded and why you see no hairs they have done there job and died off.

It depends on the how much pollen is produced the more male pods the more pollen. So the more pollen that is caught, the more seeds you will have, and the more seeds you get the more energy that the plant is creating to form those seeds rather than those Trichs that we all love!!!! You can get an idea on how the potency is effected by the seeds. A few seeds wont hurt:D

But the bud above along with 4 plants that were all seeded went through a shifter box and made some delicious kief. If you grow more than 2-3 plants you need to get a shifter box. I think about all the kief I missed out on last year. I let the bud get really really dry and crushed it all up and placed it in the box and put that on my surround sound bass box and let it sit for a day and I would break up the buds and get out the seeds and leave the box collecting the kief.

Yes hermies deminish the THC percentage. The plant stops putting it's energy into producing flowers and THC and starts to make seeds.

That will reduce the overall quality and quanty of the finished product.
