So I have another few bag beans germinated and sittin under the right lights this time. Ten days after these guys popped up from the soil I have one that is about and inch tall and looking nice, and one that grew to about a 1/2 inch in a day and has stayed there. for the last 7 days. I water when the soil is dry to 2/3 to the bottom, no nuts. i got 2 350 watt equiv cfl's a little desk fan maken them wiggle and a small bowl with water. Temp is 82 and humidity is 65. The bigger one is 3 inches from the lights. lights running 18/6

My plan, once I get a nice female is to grow it in this smoker... 3 feet tall (from dirt to lights) 1 3/4 feet wide all around. The bottom of this thing has a recessed round area that I could fit a good size pot in.

Any sugestions as to what I can do to give the guys a little kickstart?

The inside surface of that smoker is a detriment....black absorbs the energies of light...

You'll be fighting against that till you move them, or, paint the inside of that modified grow dome.

And bollocks to having a light any closer than 2'' from the plant. Whats gained in usable lumens is lost when the plant has to begin keeping itself cool in order to survive.

You want a state of thrive...not survive.

Chrisme - generic Scott's with as little added as they had.

slowthestone - I know the black/white/mylar deal... I was going to wait to paint the inside until I had at least one nice looking plant. Just lazy so far I guess. Do you think that could be the only thing wrong in this setup? I just keep trying with a bunch of bag seeds untill I know I have a decent growing enviorment.

Thanks to both of you!

Slowthestone - I am going to paint the sides flat white some day this week, do you think that I would need to paint the underside of the lid to the cooker? That would be painting above where the lights are affixed to the top of the barrel.

Thanks for your help.
