Hey mory,

While living in Arizona I planted 16 species of cactus in the front yard.

Three large, golden-barrel cactus, 16 inches in diameter. (Covered with 2 inch spikes) You would not want to fall on one. lol.

2- 6 foot Mexican Saguaro cactus. They grow to 30 ft tall.

1- Arizona saguaro.

Cant remember the names of the other cactus. Cool looking though. In fact I know I had the exact same species that you have in your photos.

All the cactus would attract desert animals like lizards, preying mantis, gekkos, desert quails and 8 inch cactus owls.

When all the cactus blooms in bright reds and yellow it would attract night bats that pollenated the cactus.

Planted 3 baja fairy dusters, a desert bush about 6ft x 6 ft that blooms every morning with at least a hundred bright red feather-brush flowers. Blooms each morning 365 days a year. Flowers are heavily resinated and attracted over 5 species of hummingbirds by my office window all day long.

Also planted some desert Agave and 5 types of desert shade trees imported from Africa and Austraillia. Jackaronda, Desert willow .........forget the other names.

Planted a San diego red Bouganvilla, White Bouganvilla and Purple Bouganavillia. All on redwood trellis and arbors.

Found some large Jesse-red/white marbled boulders in the north country to landscape it, made a simulated river bed with orange/rust round stones and the rest graveled in light purple crushed gravel, with a flagstone walk.

Filled in the rest of the plants with rock scape and multicolor desert lantanas
and various other desert plants.

Beautiful. Took a lot of work.

I miss the dessert.

Have a good one.
