This tread is mainly for SOG growing ,but could be used for smaller plant number production.
This is going to be a very long statement on how I clone for my multiple tray aero systems. THis is not for the weak of heart, just for the serious researcher or the very stoned and bored.
OK, Get to know my set up,and why i needed to build a self sustaining, extremely numberious, cloning system!
MY bloom room consists of a dual 3X3,self built, semi'aero tray systems, (3'2" x 6'6" total) w/ 3- 400W HPS air cooled.This system holds 70 3" net pots.
The other side of the room has 2- 1000w HPS bulbs (AIR COOLED), in cool tubes on conjoined light movers,Over 2- 4'x4' , self built, Aero trays. This system holds 92- 3" net pots, with room for 2- single plant Water Farms on the end (32") ,just incase the of a disaster with the aero systems,(which will happen from time to time, I promise)!
As you can see, I need 70 to 92 clones every 4 weeks. Because of this fact, I take 130 clones 1 month and 96 clones the next month.
I have no mother plants,I just take clones from the previous bacth of clones that are about 1 week into flower (sometimes as late as 3 weeks into flower).
Here it goes
I use 2- 2'X4' flood trays X 3.5"tall.
I cut 2'X4' 1/2thick polystyrene tops, and cut 3" holes( a campells soup can with the top ring cut off is a perfect stencil) in them. 6 holes deep and 11 holes length(66 holes per tray), use a stardard kitchen pearing knife to cut the foam.I flood these trays 1 time daily for 3 days,2 times daily after that , until I start seeing roots appear,Then i go to a flood every 2 hour ,durning daylight, for the remaining time the are in veg.I run the lights 24hr until I see good roots then I switch to 18hr/6hr, and veg them in same trays until im ready to throw them in the other bloom systems.
The lights are standard 4" flourescent fixtures(shop lights) on a frame.5 fixtures per 4'x2' tray.I use 2 of the 5 fixtures for the first 3 days,3 of the 5 fixtures until I want to veg them (after I have good roots),then I use all 5 of the fixtures until they go into bloom.
I start out with 1"x1" rockwool cubes and presoak them(for 24hr). Presoak is as follows: 3 gals. of R/O water,(GH 3part)7.5ml grow,7.5ml micro, 7.5ml bloom, 45drops superthrive.PH adjust to 5.5.
Then I put 1 RW cube into a 3" net pot with explanded clay pellets(keep cube level with top of pot.But the pot into the tray and You are ready to start cloning.
I use 30 gals of R/O water in the res. Add: 62.5ml grow,62.5 micro,62.5ml bloom, 225ml H2O2.500 gph pump, and a 130 gph recirculation pump which I also use as an aerator.
Taking the clones:I use a 1/2 gal mixing bowl (R/O water and 30 drops of Super Thrive) and a 3/4 gal mixing bowl (R/O water and 45 drops of Super Thrive).I use scissors and start cutting the lower branches(about 4" to 6" long) and drop them into the 1/2gal bowl, after i get about 20 in there, I go into the other room at table and trim the branches down to clones(use an exacto knife) ,about 3" long (slash cut stem under the water and leave atleast 2 leaves and a top. Then to the veg room where i dip the clone into Clonex gel and into the Rockwool they go.
Kick the pump timer and lights on and come back in 3 days.Easy to maintain and im getting 98% and 100% survival rates.
This is just how I do it , and wanted to share some info.Any questions on this set up or comments. Will be happ to repond.
Hope this helps someone:cool:
