My question = will it still be good and strong? or has the thc gone? .. or even CAN the thc be lost :o
Urgent reply needed :D i need a smoke :D

I think putting it in a sealed container is part of the curing process, but don't take my word for it.

Try and snap a nug. if the stem is a clean break your good to smoke, if it bends and streches its not cured.

yea dude if its been in an airtight container for 5 months. then its DEFINITLY cured for a looong time. and the longer the curing the better

A 5 month cure would indeed be a dank ass smoke !

I've heard about weed "going bad" and it's always kinda worried me. How long does it take? And what exactly happens??

Mould can do serious damage - need to make sure that the Airtight container is "burped" to let out some stale air etc. That can ruin your bud almost overnight.
I think if grass is stored even at optimum temperature the THC begins to degrade after 12-18 months (dependant on conditions) and IIRC the THC can then degrade by 15-20% each year.
So curing for 4-6 months = Jolly Good
Storing for 4 years and expecting a better smoke - not likely.
Anaerobic bacteria cause a lot of the breakdowns in curing, also the level of Chloropyll will drop (helps the weed taste better) over time which is also a benefit of the curing.

why the hell didn't you smoke it like 3 months ago?.... Did you forget about it or go around the world or something?

Whenever I pick up a really good strain I vacuum seal an 1/8 or so and save it for future use. I recently smoked some Sour Deisel that I had sealed up for at least two years and it was almost as good as the day I bought it. Actually it was just as potent but had lost some of the scent and taste. Maybe that's from the loss of chlorophyll that Delta9 mentioned. Still a really nice smooth smoke though.
