hey i was wondering if anyone ever had mono??? i posted about a month ago how i felt tired and kinda dizzy/light headed lately (mild diziness nothin crazy) i dont even kno if i should use the word dizzy.. things just felt kinda out of proportion or somethin iduno how to explain it. when i got my blood test results it said that at some point in the last few months i had mono (it must have not been that serious). the results said that i didnt have it anymore, just had some antibodies from it left in my blood. well its been like a month and a half after the test and im still feeling tired and achy a lot and still seem outta proportion. i heard mono takes a long time to completelt recover from.. so has anyone here had mono before?? i was wondering if this was normal or if i should go for another test to see if it came back or if its from something else. ive been smoking more during the summer than i usually do, but i dont think that smoking has really anything to do with it. maybe feeling a little tired has to do w/ smoking, but i doubt that weed is causing this (esp. since its never been a problem before) any idea of what this might be? or has anyone had mono before that might know some things about it. my mom jus thinks im exxagerting and that im completely fine and that i'm just worrying too much about it (which might be true) but still.. bla

i also wanted to add that i party a lot, but thats never bothered me before (as far as being tired allll the time and stuff). i usually sleep late sometimes till like 1 or 2 pm which usually oversleeping makes me tired, but not like this.

The mods will probably move this to the medical area, so look for it there if you don't see it here later.
I had mono when I was a teenager, and it did take some time to recover from. I never had any repurcussions after that, but it can take a long time for many people to get their energy back. And for some people there's a connection between the mononucleosis virus and the later development of chronic fatigue syndrome.
Do some research on Google and read about mononucleosis aftereffects and related diseases/syndromes. Then if you're still tired, go talk to your doctor again. There's not much they can do about either mono or CFS, but sometimes just having the symptoms confirmed makes you feel better.

I had mono many moons ago. I do remember being out of it and achy. If I remember correctly, I was home with it for about a month and then stayed home for another 3 weeks b/c I wasn't up to par and I had to catch up on school work I missed. It does take some time to get over.
there is being tired and rundown, then there's mononucleosis...believe me, you'll know the difference if you ever get mono.

Some folks really do get fairly mild cases and only feel tired and run-down and just think it's exhaustion, then later mono is reflected in their antibodies after bloodwork. It just varies from person to person. My son never knew he'd had it till it showed up later on his bloodwork. He just thought he was tired for about six weeks.
For me personally, it was a mean thing. I had a hideous sore, blistered throat and swollen lymph nodes, fever, aches. The works. I think some immune systems must simply stand up to it better than that.
