Yes, they are on this site. Maybe not the department in your city or state, but some LEOs are out there.

Computer technology, unfortunately, leaves an electronic footprint that is (usually) admissible in court. Police CAN, with the proper paperwork, collect very traceable IP addresses from sites like these and use them in their investigations. It is done ALL THE TIME to bust child pornographers, and while I support that application, there is always the chance they could use it to bust growers through sites like these if things got slow enough. This worried a lot of people after the shutdown of Overgrow...

Good news is, police in the U.S. have better and more "sure" things to deal with than going after people who post on sites like these. In their eyes, we're small fishes. If you were a rich drug kingpin, would you post about your life on this site? I think not.

Anyhow, if you're paranoid like me, just stick a well-worded and clear disclaimer in your signature. It's hard to grant a search warrant with a legal cock-block like that at the bottom of an incriminating post.

M.G. is soooo correct. Many of the threads might not be usable to get a conviction...but they can be used to show the level of maturity of cannabis users.

Here is a senario that could happen:
You have threads showing your garden, other threads showing your pimped out ride, and a few more threads talking about your town or school. You now have given all the information needed (for anyone) to find you. Child molestors use this criteria to find victims. If there is only 2 schools in your town, they have a 50/50 chance knowing where you will be when school ends each day. Unless you are a drop out or ditched.

I think they would be looking more for people bragging about buying large amounts to resell and for those bragging about LSD, DMX or whatever designer drug that is the fad at this time. They can also use the site to tell how available drugs are in different geographical areas by peoples post.

I have read many post like "Man, XXXX had the best grows, whatever happened to him, anyone seen him lately?" or "Why is everyone leaving?" It is possible people stop posting because they got busted? yes it is. Could it be from their activity here? who knows.

If your computer is taken during a bust and they see you "auto" log into (a) cannabis site and find pics of your standing infront of your plants, or find post of you telling a story that is exactly related to an event they are investigating then your lawyer will not be happy. Also, if they read your post and see you have a complete comtempt of the law it could adversely effect what kind of punishment they ask for you.

The paper work for a simple bust is lengthy. This could involve tying up officer(s), detective(s), prosecutor(s), judge and possibly a jury for many many man hours. Most officers would rather be out finding violent offenders, dealers selling or moving large quanties, child molestors, and gun runners.

Anytime you have an encounter with LEO and you act disrespectful your situation has just got worse! So bite your tongue...do what ever you can to be polite. This could be EXTREMELY hard, but it has to be done.

Police departments go with what produces results. Local agencys wouldn't waste their time on this site as its mostly just chat and they are pulling people over on a nightly basis that have drugs in their car that are a lot harder than Marijuana. Yes maybe there would be a lurker on at a "NATIONAL" computer crime resorse agency that may try to see if he can land a worthy DEALER. But small time personal users have ZERO to worry about. For one the police don't know that you may have a medical license to smoke it. 2. You may be in a state that has decrimalized it. Even if the location in you USER CP is in a state that has tougher laws on possession, they would not know that you may have been in that state but travel to a decrimalized state a lot(say you have family in both) and when you on here your comments reffer to when your in that state. Going after 1 user here would cost $10,000+ and they may net that you had a joint in your house. A $10,000 sting on the streets net 10-25 low level street bust. There are no local agencys lurking on these boards as they have WAY more important thing to delegate their funds and time to. For one as time goes on the Judicial system and Cops look at Marijuana as less and less of a big deal. They know know it doesn't kill even 1/100th of what alcohol does, but the laws still say its illegal. When a cop sees a joint in a car he pulls over its kinda like in his mind to toally ignore it as the judges don't want to deal with single joint paper work(again its time and money) the user tends to think WHEWWWW he didn't even see or smell the weed and that they got lucky when in fact he was well aware but just saved everybodys time by acting as if he didn't see it. So if they are blowing those small amounts off why would they come here after chaters that would be a bitch to locate and in 1 year may net one guy who had a joint or two. Bottom Line you are 100,000 times more likly to get busted driveing in your car than chating here, which makes chating nothing to worry about AT ALL.
