Does anyone have any idea how it is possible to take photos of the sky at night?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need a good camera and you need to set a slow shutter speed. ALSO, you'll probably need a tripod so the pictures arn't blurry. :D

oh man....one of the coolest pictures ever: (its an old trick i know, but its so sweet)
go to some place high with a huge visible patch of the sky. also try to make sure you can see the north star. get a camera with adjustable shutter speed and aim it so the north star is in the picture of the sky. (id set your f stop either really low or in the middle). let the film be exposed for literally like 5 or 6 hours and youll see the stars form almost concentric circles around the north star which is stationary (as the earth rotates around its axis that points towards the north star). the white streaks with a stationary dot on a black sky is soooo cool

shoot on a clear night
use a tripod

set focus on infinity
open the aperature
expose anywhere from a minute or two to several hours

A remote shutter release helps so that you don't need to touch the camera once you have it positioned on the tripod, cable releases fit most cameras.

Don't they have telescopic cameras that are meant to take pictures?
You may need one of these accessories for a telescope:
