Nickelodeon was my childhood. Pothead parents let their kids watch a lot of TV.
ha
To name a few...
Double Dare, Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, Pete and Pete (didn't like them so much), DOUG!, Clarissa Explains it All, Danger Mouse, Today's Special, Koala Koala, David the Gnome- and my favorite, The Elephant Show :D
I watched a lot of TV. Wow.

Salute Your Shorts was badass man. So was Pete & Pete. I remember hot Saturday afternoons coming inside and watching Wild and Crazy kids then going back outside then trying to play games similar to those.
I remember Stick Stickley and his assistant Twiggy used to be the Nick host in the afternoons...
Great thread.

Basically all of the shows mentioned earlier kick a lot of ass. 'Salute Your Shorts' was probably my all-time favorite, followed oh so closely by the 'Original Double Dare' w/ (Marky) Mark Summers.
Lol, I remember sitting at my grandma's house at a very young age and drawing all those courses they had in the final big prize race on one big piece of paper I taped together.

I was on Nickelodeon for like a minute because when I was around 7, we went to Universal Studios in Florida (which is where Nickelodeon studios is). So we went into the building and took the tour and got to see the set of "Figure it Out" amongst other ones. So at the end, we all go to this room and there's this like set with bleachers and a bunch of cameras and what looked like a game set-up. (It was the ste-up for one of those "in-between" shows where they made people play stupid games) Mark Summers tells us about the game and then asks for volunteers. I raised my hand really really really high and he picked me first, then like 7 other kids and two adults. We then played this Angry Beaver game where we had to pass logs over and under each other before the other team got all their logs passed.
So that was my 15 minutes of fame. :)

No! And I was really pissed after I found out it was Marky Mark that I met! My Aunt was all like "Fuck! I should've called your Yaya!" (my great-grandma).
I still really don't remember it being Marky Mark unless I really think about it. Maybe I was just too excited about the whole thing and got ahead of myself.

And hey, did anyone used to wonder why these kids weren't eating all the whipped cream and stuff they used when doing the physical challenges and the obstacle course? Even to this day when I see it on GAS, I'm like, "Damn, I'd have my mouth wide open going down that ice cream sundae slide."
Hehe I'm baked. :)

I was on wild and crazy kid's live back in 1996, I just turned 6 and when the guy asked me how old I was on live television I told him I was "five-tysix". I won, probably because I was the littleist and they felt bad, but I got to slime a police officer? Anyway, I remember alla that shit and I think t.v back then is WAY better the now..I'm glad pee-wee's play house is back on air :D

Lots of the shows everyone has mentioned are still on TV, on channel 215 at least for me. It's called Nickelodeon GaS (Games and Sports), they have all the old school games shows and cartoons (well most of them). There's also another Nickelodeon channel that plays more of the cartoons that Nick had but none of the game shows, it's on channel 126 I believe. If you have cable you could probably go find them, they're just on these obscure channels that nobody hears about.

I grew up on that stuff, me and my friends still remember that song from Doug THINK BIG! ya know, where Doug goes into one of his somehow non-drug related hallucinations where he's in a huge fat suit, and so are all his friends, and they're singing that song where he has to THINK BIG in order to be successful? Starts with a bit of a bang of a trash can and they're off kinda thing?
Doug used to be the shit, and I was HUGE into Kablaam, thought it was hilarious. It's the old Robot Chicken! I watched almost every single show you guys mentioned every day up until I was like...12. Then I started watching Cartoon Network, for some reason...lol. I think it was because like a lot of you mentioned, Nickelodeon just got so retarded...
