This threads for the people who are interested in and know quite a bit about mobile phones im getting a new one soon on contract and its either going to be the samsung d900 or the sony ericsson k800i.

Im looking at what they both have im not really bothered about the weight but im looking at and comparing the size and features such as the camera, memory space etc...

I personally think that the Samsung d900 looks better than the Sony ericsson k800i because i used to have the d500 and i like the fact that it slides and goes smaller and its really thin (http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_d900-pictures-1587.php) but its not all about looks.

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_d900-1587.php (Samsung D900)

http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_k800-1485.php (Sony Ericsson K800i)

Anyway what phone would you rather have?

yeah the batterys are SHIT for samsung with my d500 i have to recharge it EVERY DAY sometimes twice a day especially if i made or watched videos or played music that would waste the battery so much and there wasnt much of an indicator for the battery it just had 3bars, so it was kinda hard to tell...

The sony d900 has...
Stand-by Up to 250 h
Talk time Up to 3 h 30 min

however the k800i has...
Stand-by Up to 350 h
Talk time Up to 7 h

I've had one Samsung, and it was good but its battery wasn't what it should have been. If you get the Samsung and buy it from a retailer, sometimes they'll throw in an extra battery as backup if you ask for it.

My last two cell phones have been Motorolas. I ended up getting a new one just three hours ago because my previous one fell in the pool earlier today and didn't survive that experience. The new one's called a Motorola RAZR. Don't know how I'll like it since it's still brand new to me. Right now, it intimidates me.

I'd go with the Ericsson.

They're good phones, long battery life, a little weird to get use to the buttons at first, but once you get the handles, it's your baby.

I mod at a site called Howard Forums and all we do is talk cellphones. I only moderate the in the lounge nowadays b/c work got too busy and when new phones get released, it gets crazy over there. But check it out, it's free, and there's A TON of great information in regards to hacking various phones.

I'm more of a tech head so I tend to go with the high-end stuff. I have Verizon Wireless; I started with the v710 and a Aircard 555. The Aircard let you access the Internet wirelessly. I used to trip people out on trains and buses by jumping on the net from my laptop.

Shortly after that, they introduced the Audiovox/UTStarcomm XV6600. This is built like a PDA (like an iPaq, sorta) but acted as a phone. As a phone, it sucked. But, I could connect that wirelessly to my laptop to get on the Internet and b/c it was a PDA, I installed all kinds of cool apps and games.

Now I'm currently using the Treo 700w and I'll probably stick with that for a while. It works great as a phone and supports bluetooth headsets. It can't connect wirelessly to the internet, but using a cable, I can still connect...minor inconvience. But again, since its a PDA, I have all kinds of apps installed...I get weather updates, I check out websites, I listen to music, I watch movies, I have navigation (TomTom) installed on it, I listen to Internet radio, and as soon as I get cable, I'll be getting a SlingBox which will let me stream TV from my cable connection to my Treo. I can do more with my Treo than most people can do with a full office.

In terms of phone suggestions...my golden rule is that it's always up to the individual. Some people like flips, others like 'candy bars', etc.

From my personal experiences, and these are solely my opinions:

Sony Erricson and Motorola: Good top quality phones with innovative features. The user interfaces are usually very clean and fast. Motorola has had a few duds in the past couple of years but they are generally on point.

Nokia: I find them to be a good middle brand. They make rock solid equipment although it's sometimes not as fully-featured as other phones released at the same time. A solid performer none the less.

LG and Samsung: Strictly budget. These companies tend to integrate high end features while sacrificing quality. I've owned a few nice Samsung phones...nice in terms of feature and feature. However, I've also had more hardware problems with Samsungs than anything else. I would definately go with LG before Samsung.
