If I have a grow cabinet that is 4x3x7 (LxWxH) would a 400w mh/hps for veg. and flower be enough or should I get another light? The grow room is painted flat white and I have tested the temps and they are fine. I would think about ending the grow with four strong females. This would be my first grow and any help would be apriciated.

i am sure some one will post with lumens per sq foot, but i would say u have enough light.

hight may be a problem. once u go 12/12 and the plants start to stretch it may be dificult to keep u're light far enough away heat wise. however if u r growing a short strain or top, u should have enough room (4x3) for more than 4 plants

I am growing an indica strain to try and keep it short. What height should I keep the plants to so I still have smokable buds at the bottom of my ladies? I was thinking of keeping them to about three feet, but will I get enough penatration at the bottom and thanks for the quick replies. I have been following the forums for many months now and just signed up and I have to say so far everyone is really helpful.

Well Newb420,

Yes, you have enough light. Do you have enough fresh air should be your next question? Plan on topping your plants twice and don't worry about bud at the bottom sites. Take a look at http://foxfarmfertilizer.com/ you may learn something.

I have plenty of fresh air and a AC unit in the room to keep it cool. I have one intake, one exhaust, and one in the cabinet to just circulate the air around.

Well,

As I said don't worry about the lower bud sites after you have topped them. So remember if you want big buds you need big root balls which means big pots. You can never have enough fresh air. Your fertilizer and how you apply it should be you last huddle.

Sorry I didn't mean to sound moody. If I keep them around three feet should I use a 3 gallon pot or 5 gallon pot?

3 is fine, 5 is better

remember: once u go 12/12 u're plants will probably double in size.

hold your hand under the lite. at the distance the heat feels uncomfortable is the distance u will burn your plants. so figure out how big the plant can be so they can double in size when u flower and still have space for the light.

good luck
