ok u know they say if u take a cutting from a flowering plant and keep in the 12/12 it will have like an oz in one cutting....well if u did that with like 50% of the lower nodes/branches wouldnt it slightly increase your overall yeild?

what you're describing is a "clone", simply another plant grown from the cutting instead of a seed ... the purpose of that, by taking cuttings only from females, you will have another female plant to grow out, instead of taking a chance on a male from a seed ... be aware, too much cutting or pruning can cause stress, resulting in the female mother plant producing male flowers ... go to Grow FAQs, and read the "Cloning" section ... :smokin:

erm read it again bro.
im refering to the thread concluding that if you had a plant allready in the flowering mode....then u took a cutting instead of yeilding normal amount it grew to an outstanding 1 1/2 oz ...im thinking if someone did this aswell as keep the mother in flowering wouldnt it increase yeild?

The clone must root before you put it under 12/12 then it must grow a little larger to have a full ounce dry bud.

yeah....but if i did that aswell as keep the original plant in flowering....WOULDNT IT INCREASE YEILD>?!
lmao no ones getting my qeustion.

Do you mean that you kill the original mother plant after you take the clone? Or that you use the whole plant to take clones from and leave none left? I dont really get your question.. Ur probly stoned as youre typeing lol.

i think your saying take clones from the mother while she is flowering and let her keep flowering in addition to flowering the clones because the clones will producre more bud during flowering than they would have if left on the mother -RIGHT?
not a bad idea but as stated befor you will have to root the clone first then depending on how long you veg it you could do pretty good but remember that when you cut the clones it will take aprox 7-14 days to root your clones and that will put your harvest from the clones alittle bit farther away than the harvest from the mother
i hope i under stood your Q and i hope this makes sence to you

ROFLMAO - Don't ya hate it when you ask a question then a bunch of people answer everything but your real question? :wtf:
I think Zandor and the Bomb pretty much answered your question - and reps to Bomb for actually providing a complete answer.

Yeah your theory would be a waste of time and I don't see any way in which it would increase yield. A way to increase yield from the plant would be to take clones from it when it's in vegetative stage, so you can make them into many separate large plants, all from the same one, and flower them. As others have stated, you will have to root your clone, and that will take a while... it would be a waste of time. If you want to increase yield increase your lights.

Clones have to be put in vegetative mode for at least a couple weeks in order to grow the parts necessary to live apart from the mother. If the cutting is already in flowering mode, it has to get rid of that flowering hormone first, which puts significant stress on the already-stressed cutting. There's a reason nobody takes clones from flowering plants.

lol did you guys notice this thread got bumped exactly one year to the DAY after it was abandoned? :D
People DO, however, take clones from flowering plants. This is not only possible, but many growers (old timers especially) swear by the method. The thing to remember is that as the plant makes the hormonal switch from veg to flower, its undifferentiated cells are going, 'oh hey whagt am i going to be? a leaf? a flower? a ROOT?' rooting is often much faster and in days wehn fancyass rooting hormones weren't readily available, it was a GREAT way to improve success rates.
Don't tell anyone... but I personally clone from flowering plants on a pretty regular basis....

Again? Flabbergasted. I thought he meant re-flower and keep growing mom. I think there was a thread in a growing section about that. Guess what? A bunch of different opinions.

yes it would take a little while to veg them up but it will work you cut the clones from the mother and root them and veg them and then follow the basic rules of a sog or scrog

That's nothing. There are some threads from 2004 that were bumped up today - some clown bumping them with single word replies.

I love bumping threads. But you need to search the site first before you ask a question so therefore
