Today i was at this thrift shop and i noticed a very old vinyl copy of Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane. The vinyl itself is in good condition, and it's pressed by RCA, a yellow label in the center.

I don't even have a record player for this thing so i'm gonna sell it on ebay. What would it go for ?

haha i listened to jefferson airplane after having eaten hippy mushrooms. they were magical mushrooms, if you know what i mean; and by that, i mean they were shitake mushrooms :-). but the *placebo* effect (and only placebo effect) was trippy anyways.

that was a true hippy experience. mmm shitake.

I have Surrealistic Pillow on vinyl too!

I got mine for like $5-$10 and it wasn't in too terrible of condition.

You won't get much for it man. They were never a huge band that kept going for years. They had 2 hits I think and that was all, and they were barely hits.

I have the Jefferson Airplane record that turns into a pot stash box. I don't even know the name of the album, but when I was last looking through them, I can across it. I inherited hundreds of records when my grandad died, so I got all the hippy records. :p

i'm gonna try to sell it on ebay.

i'm not going to ask too much for it...

it does look like quite an old press, though. it's got a picture of an old phonograph on it and a dog listening to it, and it reads "RCA VICTOR" "His master's voice". Could that have any significance relevant to the date it was pressed? It's an RCA logo... black on pink print.

oh and surrealistic pillow is the name of the record, not any single song. It's got "White Rabbit", "Somebody to Love", as well as "Today". I wish I had a record player :(

jefferson airplane is sweet.. and i thought they were pretty big (at least among the hippies they were huge) in the 60s and early 70s

yeah they were hippie music alright. they sing "somebody to love". if you ever seen fear and loathing in las vegas, you know the scene when raoul duke is at the matrix and the guy is saying "dddoooeoess aannyybody want soooommmemeeee lsd?.... " yeah that was supposed to be jefferson airplane on the stage, singing "somebody to love".

The only collectable vinyl of Surrealistic Pillow is the MONO one. It easily blows away the stereo vinyl version for kick-ass sound quality. The CD's can't compete at all.

Sgt. Pepper, by the Beatles, and Pet Sounds, by the Beach Boys, also sound better on vinyl in Mono.

It is the stereo version :(

Nice signature by the way. I have long been an avid reader of Nietzsche... I did a report on him a long time ago. Good job.

Mine looks old too, I think they did that on purpose to make it look aged.

Jefferson Airplane was quite the crafty band.

Go Grace Slick!

Indeed, Jefferson Airplane is a kick ass band.. who else would've come out with songs like 'white rabbit'... how much are you planning to sell the vinyl for ?
