about 6 by 6 feet.
Or 5 by 5 feet.
Depending on the movement you want around your plants.

I'd say bigger. Then you can expand. To conserve light, hang a mylar curtain across the room at the right dimension for whatever light you're using. Then if you get another light, just take down the curtain. When I was in my growroom I was using 1x1000 +1x400 HPS in a space 7x12 feet. I'd say ideally make a 8x16 room, then you can divide it for veg/flower, or you can add another 1000w, and still be able to walk around and tend your girls.

a 1000w would be perfect in a 4'x5' area (1000w/20sqft=50w per sqft)
using that in a c13 would be overkill and the heat would be difficult to manage
im using a c13 right now actually and i have a 400w in there.. i started a log but there arent any pics right now, trying to get ahold of a camera

ok, well me and the wife have measured 5x now and we have came up with a area for you guys
ill be working with 2.5' wide 5.5 long and 7' high
here is what im thinking, 2 400w hps/mh,
im a experianced scrog user so that is what im sticking with.
i liek to keep my plant ## low just in case leo pop in for a talk if you k now what i mean, so around 3 plants max in dwc
what kinda exhaust you guys suggest? iv always grown in i guess an " open atmospher" so i havnt had the need for exhaust just little fans to move air
oh sorry about all the spacing...my damn space bar on my laptop is jacked up....lol

get the area of your grow space... 7x5.5x2.5 so .. w hat... like 96cu ft. id go with something from 400-500 cuz you wanna change the air 3-5 times a minute for good circulation,,
look around on this page http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/items.asp?Cc=EF&iTpStatus=0&Tp=&Bc=

if i were to ever GROW.. I would use 2 - 1000 watt bulbs on a 4X8 area..
: )
I would spend ost of my time and energy and $$$ on exhaust and temperature control.. Then I would make sure that the lights are as close as possible to my foilage.. about 12 inches...

If you built your own house and you are not new to growing, why didn't you build a secret room with massive dimensions at least 12x12ft?
5.5 L x 2.5 W x 7 H is adequate, I have battled with similar and much smaller spaces though I used only HID 250W HPS. I had to mount fans, ducting and 2 blowers in the Low head-room which wasn't very helpful while moving pots around. My preference now is the entire space of a master bedroom. Current crops are throwing of dank nuggs in our master bedroom setup. Climate is easier to control and access is easy. Providing your controlled environment is perfect your bud should thrive in any given space.
I'd only evey use a small space in future for mothers and clones.
