2nd time round, lil help needed with my setup!!

Yo people.

last year i was doing some indoor growing, but came accross hundreds of problems.

I bought the wrong lamps, then got the corrct ones about 4weeks in veg :P



Anyway. this time i am prepared!

I have a attack to use. It is a bit low, but alot of room.

A few problems i had last time was how to put up my coolwhite CFL lights...
Any ideas???

Also i had problems with what nutes to use and soil....
People from the UK has any idea what soil brand i should use and from which shop??

Also, last time STUPID ME I USED STAVIA LMAO!!!
I need an idea what type but cheap indicia i should use..

Im on a high budget but most of my cash goes towards the house.


Help would be very apretiated, and i will post stuff how i get on.

Oh p.s. I wanna to a sog. with 4weeks veg but a LOOOONG flowering so i can get seedlings.

Plenty of information to be found here, Please feel free to search this wonderful archive of information, best way is to look at other peoples setups, the basics on ferts are covered in the FAQ. Soil, just go to a few greenhouses and buy a well priced soil without nutes in it, sativa should be fairly easy to control with proper lighting (in scrog), but nearly any indica you can find "locally" would probably work better for you. Trust me, you will learn a ton on this grow, and be able to apply it to your next, but searching the forums and reading for a few hours/days will help far more than you know.

It would help me much in my research. I want to have this grow a success and not a failure like te last grow with 20 seeds. 10 purple wizard, 10 master kush.

As far as your strains go....I have read on here for beginners good strains include. Northern Lights, White Widow, AK-47. I have never grown them so I don't know. Just found that info in a couple threads. Might help, might not.

Got me a few ideas thanks.

How did you put the lights in place?

The strings accross the plants is a good idea, last time it hit the cieling and all i could do is bring it into my bedroom, where i had problems again with holding the lights in place.

I really want the plants to be small and okish buds.
Would 4weeks veg be ok for that?
And i gues indicia, cuy the are more bushy.... stavia as the other dude said, is easier to control, but it grows high doesnt it.

1 more problem is still the soil, i cant find a soil brand that has no nutes in it :P

hey blizma seen as ur in the uk why dont u check out this store www.growell.co.uk they sell everythin from soil to lights to carbon filters everythin.. it can be a little costly tho but i find i get value for money becoz all there products are the finest quality .. allso i think i remember you sayin you wanted to grow indica.. well if so go here http://www.dope-seeds.com/
u can buy NIRVANA seeds they are indica and only cost bettween £10-£15 and are great for learnin with if things dont work out first time then u havent wasted lots of money on seed if they do work out u will have some nice bud... anyways sorry i couldnt help u any more.. ;)

Using Indicia seeds - Nirvana - i think.... Master Kush <<<< Please, if anyone can recommand something easier to grow would be gr8 >>>>

Using good old CFL's <<<< Not too sure how many watts needed for veg (cool white) and how mAny for flowering (warm white) +=i have read alot and each faq says something else=+ >>>>

I think i shall do a SOG as i think its the easiest...

I shall train the plants to grow bushy :) :)

Hi Blizma, I'm not sure of your situation exactly, but if you go too Wickes, look around for welded chains, you can buy them in metres and in larger sizes, basically you can improvise which most people do, what I would do is have a strong chain across the top of the space, make sure its sturdy, look around for some s-hooks, buy some Ezi-Roll light hangers, http://www.growell.co.uk/p/1520/Ezi_Roll_Light_Hangers.html, they work like a charm, hang the hangers from the chain using S hooks. Growell are pretty much the best UK based store for hydrophonics and anything plant related, they also sell all the advanced nutes from the US, and their prices are lower than all the other UK shops. They also sell soil. If your not keen on buying soil from them or ordering it over the net, try going too Homebase, B@Q and look around for some top soil, it has practically no nutrients in it but also needs too be mixed with perlite or vermiculite for drainage. Personally I would buy a soil with nutrients, forget MG, John Innes do a No.1,2,3, 1 contaning the least amount of nutrients for seedlings and 3 containing the most, for mature plants. There are many ways to go.

About the soil, i have read, you can fill up a pot with 2 different soils. the top layer, thin, no nutrients. ad the rest, at the bottom, a soil with nutrients..
From this i understnd, germination is good, and when it is in good veg and hits the nutrients.

I think i shall use this method for the soil.

MegaOctane12 , the chain is a good idea, but not a good idea for me because im using cfl's.
For the lights, i bought light clips, where the bulbs go into the clip, then to the mains, and i can clip them anway. These where £1 each..
I bought these only to test.
But i need something better, like a stand, or, a platform where all the bulbs go into which i can then drill onto the wall... Any ideas for this would help.

As far as soil concerned, is it a good idea to buy oxygenated small stones to mix into the soil?
