You would think that impersonating a salesperson for fake labour in exchange for money would be against the law, even for them. I do believe any officer needs a search warrant to snoop around. Even saying if they're just a saleperson.
I'm not entirely sure though. I'm sure it has happened though.

Stop calling him stupid and paranoid. Every person has the right to ask a question or feel a certain way when it comes to their freedom if you ask me.

not that i have anything to hide just wondering if that was possible
because considering all the conspiracies that go on today, i wouldnt be surprised if this happened to.

I d'no how yall do it in Canada but in the U.S., that would usually mean 1 of a couple things:
1. You were robbed.
2. You's about to get robbed.
3. Your place was just bugged.
That's usually the case when unmarked vehicles come to do things in your home out of nowhere. Do you rent? Because then it's completely possible that your landlord requested someone visit. Do all your research first before making any rash moves.

If you call a plumber... you make sure he has a truck with logos.... matching uniform.....

Depending on the kind neighborhood you're in, I'd agree with Big Calhoun and be careful.
When we were selling our old house in the semi-ghetto, we had a cop come up to our house. He just knocked on the door and asked if we were having trouble selling the place, how we liked the neighborhood, he claimed that he thought the house was empty for the past two years. Der... no, we were living there the past two years... it was obvious he was just trying to snoop, making sure someone actually lived there while it was on the market and that it wasn't a grow house cover or something. Needless to say, he did not come in, and he barely got to see inside... which is a good thing, because a pipe was on the coffee table. ;)

^Werd. Usually at apartments they are required to give you 48 hours notice.
Funny Story. Once, at my old apartment, they did fire inspections. I failed to notice the fire sprinkler in the closet. Buddy was like, "I need to check your closet". It was like revenge of the clones in there so I was like "You have to comeback later." Needless to say Operation CLeanup was in full effect. And the fucker didnt even comeback.
Dont ever OPEN THE DOOR for anyone you arent expecting.

my apartments called me up one day because one of their workers went snooping on my balcony, and they found 1 medical marijuana plant growing. Frantically, the bitch who worked in the office called me up at work, and asked me in a trembling voice "i...i..i..iiis t.t.tthat a MARIJUANA plant growing on your balcony?". I reply, "it sure is, and it is legal too. have a nice day" and hung up on her. The next time the snooping fucker complained to my apartment management, THEY told him off. I love Proposition 215!

Craziness. I wish we had medical mary jane in my state...
Oh, and we owned that house... the cop probably thought we were renting, but we bought it (it was bank-owned) and remodeled it. We considered it our community service. ;) We sank so much money into that house...

It happens.
Are you hanging out with a friend that has a warrant? An old friend of mine was staying at my place, and undercover cops were staking the place, looking through windows, and simply being around the area. Undercover cops tend not to approach the door, but it's different everywhere I guess. You could always call the police about the "suspicious vehicles", be a pain in the ass :)

Did you know if you put your house up for sale, a cop can search your house without a warrent (I believe they only need probably cause). Keep things like this in mind.

I have not heard of such a thing but I have one huge piece of advice.
NEVER EVER let STRANGERS enter your home for any reason. Hell, they could be there to rape or rob you or case your house for later.:(
Be safe above all and don't let strangers talk you in to anything!
If it's the police that want you, they'll show you a warrent and do what they came to do. Even if they flash a warrent and badge, call 911 for conformation.
Too many creeps out there these daze.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Here in the States we have a thing called due process ... and that's not following it.
Does it matter? I mean who here actually lets sales people in? None of us, cos its all one big shit styled rip off... its the end of the world...

not all of them. sure, most of them, but not all. i was amazed by how many people in the greater l.a. area let us in to sell them meat. but this meat was actually usda prime and choice, so it was better than the meat you can get at the supermarket. and the only thing i ever did was make a deal and a buck at the same time and move on. never stole, cased, yard-dogged, or any illegal activities or scams. just gave a fair price for great steak and seafood, and moved on. but thats me. others out there are sick and hate filled.

thanks, i will take your advice seriously. i mean it wasnt really me who let them in it was my dad. but yeah since you all gave me the idea of being robbed, i got super parnoid and so i tried to tell him about it and he's like dont worry. and i said whatever fine. my dad is condescending like that at times.
theres not much more i could have done, in the end.
but next time ill be on my toes next time. yes i agree with all of yall when you say there are alot of crazy people out there and you cant trust anyone.

Due process,hummm... If you let a LEO in your house they CAN do a line of sight search! Meaning anything that would GIVE them proable (sp) cause to go get a warrant, such as a pack of Zig-Zag Papers on your coffee table. Top or Bugler Papers wont create probable cause cuz those come with the same brand of tobacco. But Zig-Zags are used for only one thing by most folk.Just an example
in other words if you let them in (grant permission to enter) then ANYTHING that they might see constitutes Probable Cause and gives them the abilty to go get a warrant!!
as Bong said...If you dont know them, arn't expecting them,or won't prove who they are DO NOT LET THEM IN!!!!!!
Rules for dealing with LEO's
Rule No.1 Cops=LIE!!!
Rule No.2 Refer to rule No.1
No, they'd need a search warrent stop being stupid and paranoid.

Is it your house? Did you call them?
How many people come to your house? Do they start in the morning and keep coming in a line until nightfall?
What's the big deal? Did you need the work done? Tell them to fuckoff if it seems sketchy but with the frew details and vague story, it's hard to tell what exactly you are talking about.

This kid I know of who was selling mass amounts of drugs...He was on house arrests and ordered a pizza from Pizza Hut or somewhere...and when he opened the door, the pizza man was a cop and they bursted in his house. I guess you just have to open the door or something. Hes like 20 and now hes fucked for a long long time. Obviously his phone was tapped.

Only if you sell it via "open house" style. If you sell by APPT only they still need a warrant.
If you do the open house thing where strangers can come during certain hours to look through, then yes, the cops could do just that.Come as potential buyers and snoop all they wanted until you forcibly ejected them from the premises. But if they come as buyers and NOT as cops, you have every right to pick them up bodily and THROW them out if they dont leave when you ask.
But then again, only a total MORON would have an open house to sell his crib if they are growing or dealing there.
