I have never had to keep a mother plant do to the availability of clones in my area, but I am wanting to preserve a local strain, not sure of name, but seems to be an indika of some sort and I have a few questions about the mother plant cabinet I am constructing and the care of the mother plants. The cabinet that I am going to use is 32h x 30w x19d. I have 5 socket sights for CFL's. Since I am growing some clones up to become 3 mothers, I am thinking that I will use all 5 42w cool white CFL's. Once They get to be approx 12 to 18" I will probably down size the light source down to 3 CFL's.
I have read on here about a few people who are using those Oder control CFL bulbs. I am wondering if one will be adequate to control the smell from the three mother plants which are a low smell strain. I have an extra Vortex 172cfm fan but no carbon filter. , I no that it seems like allot of CFM for such a small space, but it will have to do for now and I figure once I, or if I even need to put a scrubber on the extra CFM will be nice. I guess that I am looking dfor any opinions on the deodorizer CFL's and the amount of light the CFM's, good, bad? This is the first time that I have used them.
Question about the mother plant maintenance. I have herd that when keeping a plant in the vegetative state for long periods of time in a soiless mixture you can experience some ph problems over time. When using a soil mixture I have not herd much. So the question, is what are some of the soil and soiless mixtures and fert schedules that will be good to use over a long period of time. Also, what do some of you use to control height and promote new growth, Pinching, topping, fimming or what? On a 12/18" tall mother what is an ideal amount of clones to get off when clipping and still keep the mother healthy?
Any help will be appreciated.

Also, with the soil, I use Black Gold potting soil with 30 percent perlight as the mediam for my other plants. I would like to continue to use this, but the Black Gold is a pre mix and I worry about deficiencies that could take place over a long period of time. What can be done to prevent this problem?
