Before I tried grass in college, which was 25 years ago for me, I bought into all the anti-drug education I'd gotten coming up through school in the 70s.
That was before the days of Nancy Reagan's Just Say No campaign, but I grew up in a university town, and so as early as the late 60s, when I was a little kid and when drugs were so popular in college hippie culture, we were getting drugs-are-dangerous education through our elementary schools.
You don't really have a way to believe anything else other than the drugs-are-bad message when that's what you're routinely taught as a kid.

So so so so true. The main reasoni made this thread was so my friend would read it and maybe change his mind on trying it :) No pressure, just showing facts :rasta:

Kids are very impressionable (is that a word?). I mean, kids believe in a fat man who gives you presents on a 2000 year old carpenter's birthday.
That's why drug education in elementary schools doesn't work. They don't give the kids real facts about the dangers, they tell them a fairy tale, which most kids start to question as they grew older.
I was in a DARE-like program, but started using cannabis when I was 13, or 9th grade. I wish I could still find those worksheets...

I never really bought into all of that...I was fascinated with the 60's and the counterculture as young as age 12, so I always was very curious about it.

You were more of a maverick kid than I was, then. I always believed what I was told in those days.
I'm still fairly gullible. But I'm smart enough now to investigate stuff before I totally buy into something.

I remember telling my dad that you could die from one hit of marijuana. He laughed and said whatever.

I totally believe cannabis has changed my life for the better. It hasn't made me lazier, it's given me more incentive to do what I love to do in life.
I suppose i bought into the BS when i was like 9 or 10 and in there. But i was never really against them. I didnt really think about drugs or have a major opinion on them. Besides i was fascinated by what i heard about them on tv and stuff. So i tried weed first at 14 and loved it since.

I had mixed feelings, I remember wanting to do it to be sorta edgy, this was back in the 7th grade and I was really the only toker. Thankfully I gave it up for the next two years when I tried and it and began to respect it.

Not me. Not in the least little bit. I couldn't wait to try it, I had two older brothers that smoked.

i definately bad mouthe mary jane back in my day when i was in grade 9/10.
My cousin who said outloud, "I want to try it", i quickly made him feel bad for even having those thoughts. Now that i look back i feel SO stupid for saying that.
Its ironic now because i smoke it and he has gone all, "Smoking one joint is like smoking 5 cigarettes", on me. Weird.

Closed minded people suck
people i know who are against it then try it and like it wont ever smoke any of my bud, i dont know why but i just really detest them, like this one girl i knew quit talking to me when she found out i did it, then once high school came around she inevitably tried it and loved it so one weekend i get a random call from her asking to buy a joint.... i said the first thing that came to mind, i was like FUCK YOU and hung up.
for some reason these people just dont sit right with me, i dont hold it against people if they were like anti pot anytime before the age of 12 or 13, i think by that age you should be able to make your own decisions about things
make it legal

yeah i thought it was really bad for you untill i was like 12 which was when i became curious but did ttry it till i was 15, but by that time i wanted it really bad. i had soem friend who ive had for my whole life and i talked to him the other night and we got into talking about weed and he didnt know i smoked and i told him but hes all against it and he stopped talking to me. they say people who do drugs arnt your real friends but i think the ones who stop being your friend just because you smoke weed are the ones who arnt because they cant accept who you are. that friend think you like die from smoking weed or something. ridiculous. (i have no idea how to spell that word)
