I heard Chinese was really hard to learn compared to English. Or maybe it was the other way around?

对啊!如果你不能看到这些汉字, 你的电脑一定有这样的问题!

420Mory. I am using simplified Chinese characters. They are used in Mainland China and not in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Also, I am using the Mandarin (普通话)dialect. In Hong Kong, as well as most of Southern China, they speak Cantonese (粤语,广东话) and they also use the traditional style of Chinese writing.

If you really want to be able to communicate effectively in Chinese, you need to master the four basic tones. Look it up on the internet. I know if you google, "Learning Chinese Online" an amazing website comes up as one of the results that is full of valuable resources for learning.

Itsaplant...Yes, Chinese is a difficult language to learn. It really just requires alot of practice and patience as with anything else worth studying.

Might I add that my Chinese grammar is not always so fantastic so I apologize in advance for any mistakes I make.

In Chinese they call hemp or marijuana: 大麻 (da4 ma2).

But I heard if you yell, "Yo! Homeboys I need some of 'dat fire.", it will also be understood in the greater Shanghai/Pudong region. :D

Good luck studying Cantonese! It's a very interesting language!

Thanks, I think an english translation would be great. The cantonese isnt too hard so far, I find it more hard to make the sounds than anything. I found a great website that teaches both Mandarin and Cantonese, for free, and how to translate between the two. First you learn pinay, which is the westernized version, but I think it is more pronunciation you are learning really. I already know Hebrew and a lot of Spanish, this is just for fun, something to do I suppose.

I never studied French, but I did study Spanish for several years. Let me guess what that says:

French is, for me, very easy, particularly when compared to Chinese. (I am pretty sure of this part.)

The second setence is maybe: You are able to practce alot because you live near Quebec?

我没学过法语,但是我学过西班牙语几年。让我猜猜这句话的意思:

法语对我来说比汉语容易。(我差不多确定)

第二句可能是:因为你住在魁北克附近,所以你能练习很多。

Sounds like you must be Korean-American...you should really try to make some ties with your native culture. Korean is not so difficult to learn once you get into it. Try living there and teaching English or something for a few months.
