Helloe There..

I just need some quick help with a Hps light I saw at home Depot in Canada. I have looked for sequrity lights and the highest that ran at HPS was 70 Watts. I her that is no good more heat than Lummes.

So I was looking in the bulb section and I can buy 150 Watt Hps bulbs but thats all. So to build a Balist for this Bulb will I need a special Rated socket for the bulb? Or can I use the kinds they have a Home Depot they are regular light sockets 125V 660W or 250V 660W Will these sockets work for this 150W Hps bulb? Or will this be a huge Safety Concern? I do realize I would have to build some sort of reflector or buy one from plant shop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. As i would love to add some Hps light to my CFL design box. Any higher watts like 400W and I will be in Heat trouble.

Thanks for any Help.

Hi. Im sorry because i cannot really answer your question, but had a thought for you.

You say you can buy the 70w fittings with no hassle?
Trying to build a ballast and light fitting of 150w is hassle and costs more?

As you want to ADD these to existing lighting, i would buy the 70w lights and spend the money saved on building the 150w light on a fan to blow across the underside.

When i put my hand under my light (600w hps) all i can feel is the cool breeze from the fan.

Here is a pic to show you what i mean. Although my light is air cooled the extra fan means i can get the light much closer to the tips.
