what kind of grades do you get, and whats the worst thing that you've had to do because of them. I failed biology so i am retaking it during this summer, and it sucks. 5 hours a day 5 days a week. My other grades were a D, a C-, and a B.

Well, my grades pretty much sucked this year. The worst thing I've had to do though is I've been to summer school for failing US History & I had to take Biology (Usually a Freshman class here) as a Sophomore... :(

I used to get really bad grades, waaaaaaaaaaaay back in middle school. I failed one class in 6th grade, 2 in 7th, and 1 again in 8th. Otherwise the rest of my grades ranged from B-D-.

But I straightened up in high school, and now in college, grades aren't really that important, or at least not as much as they were.

I won't share with you my grades. But anyone who wants to see some really stunning transcripts can say the word . . . . I'm proud that I've made really good grades and test scores over the years. I plan to keep doing that when I start medical school in four weeks. Heck, I'll have to!

I'm in cali too, but biology was sophomore...

Anyways, I liked the school system I was in... all the classes had their grades based on 70% tests/projects and 30% homework..
And the grades were A,B,C,NM (No mark).. There was no D.
You either get 70+% or fail.

I got through ALL of high school just by getting really good scores on every test and project. I'd say in 4 years I did about 10 homework assignments...
Made it out of school with a decent 3.12 GPA too...

In college I double-majored in journalism and English and also got a teaching certificate and did a minor in pre-med (biology), which is coming in handy now. Graduate school was a degree in journalism (news editorial sequence). Law school was, well, law school, so I took law courses, and frankly, although I made good grades there, I knew from the start that I wasn't cut out to be an attorney. I think my father and husband are still shaking their heads about the money I used up on that one.

The last time I graduated from anyplace was in 1986! That was still in the days of paper assignments and typewriters. So the few papers and articles I still have are hard copies. When I start med school next month, it'll be the first time I've gone to school since the modern PC age began. Makes me feel old!

birdgirl what are you studying in med school?

Well, the first year it's pretty standard. So this coming year will be anatomy and physiology. Biochemistry. Genetics. Cytology/histology. Embryology. Endocrinology. They do a half-year ethics course now in the first year.

Down the road when clinical specialities begin, I think I'm going to be interested in emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, or pediatrics. Those can change, but right now those are three areas I think I'd be interested in and good at. I don't think my makeup is that of a future surgeon.

how do you get 65-75% without doing work and studying???wouldnt you have to get more than an A+ for every test???
