i know coolwhite is the best u can use for veg and warm for flower.....but since i dont really wanna buy both types for differnet times of growing i would like to know if its possible to do a whole grow w/ warmwhites (mainly cuz i dont c any coolwhites around here :( ).....i mean i think either way it equals out i think...like a ton of nodes but shittier flowering cuz its not right spectrum....or a little less nodes but the right spectrum of light for flower so its at its best (besides HPS lol)

so is it possible to grow w/ only warmwhites?

yea of course it's possible...but your plant will be significally smaller using them rather than cool whites

From my first grow i dont see how me using the cool whites would improve any from my warm colored ones .So yes very possible

It will, cause the spectrum that the plant uses during veg is mainly Blue so by using warm white u are really using more of a red/orange spectrum,,,this will have a dramatic influence on ur plants....unless thousands of growers are wrong!!! Of course u can still use warm whites all the way but since the prices on cfl´s and tfl´s are so cheap i dont really understand why not use both...its not like u have a HPS and dont want to spend another 100$ on a MH..:D

It would grow, but it would more than likely stretch. I recommend you just breaking down and buy the cool whites :p. 4 cool whites and 4 warm whites altogether at wal-mart is only $32 :p.

Still isn't as good.

I currencly have 4 seedlings, about 1 inch or so tall, in a wardrobe.

There are 2 20w cool white CFL's and 2 20w warm white CFL's.

They are stretching towards the cool whites.

place like walmart and such dont usually carry cool white compact flourescents (at least in my are they dont). I've only seen warm white CFLs, but i used like 300 watts of warm whites and my plants were hella bushy. so, i dont think it makes too tremendous of a difference.

The term that should be looked for on the packaging is 'full spectrum'.

Bulbs designed to emulate the color spectrum of the sun are the ones that will provide MH lamp-like growth, at no where near the temperature or operating cost.

I'd also advise keeping CFLs more than an inch away from the leaves. 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 is more ideal for keeping the temperature of the leaves closer to where they can do more with the available light without having to expend energy keeping itself cool.

The ballast of CFLs is the hottest part...be sure to keep that part of the bulb above the leaves.

I forgot but I think they use about 42 and emite about....73. It's some where in that range, probably not exact but it's a good deal. And actually I couldnt find any warm whites at Wal Mart lol. I almost thought I was out of luck with the cool whites too because I only saw like 2 day whites and the rest were soft whites but just look around and you'll find. The ones I found didnt say cool whites on the front, they were on the back and I bought them :p.
