Sharks

kinda pointless but I never knew there was so many sharks you can find in BC

Here in British Columbia, we have a large shark of our own, the Basking Shark (Cetorhinus maximus). The largest Basking Shark on record was 10.9 meters (36 feet) in the Atlantic.

Ive scuba dived all over the pacific northwest.

That shark in the photo is a 7 gill I believe, it is a bottom feeder, not a predator. Although they are quite large and have impressive teeth. Several have been seen off the piers of the seattle aquarium with bottom bait and underwater cameras. 3, 12 footers showed up in short time.

It feeds at night. Has no dorsal fin because it positions itself vertically and twists around to tear off food pieces while it rotates.

There is another shark that looks similar to a great white except fairly elusive and somewhat pink in color and mainly feeds on salmon.

I have seen many dogfish which are a smaller shark about 2-4 feet long and brown in color. They have a spike on their dorsal fin that is as sharp as a razor blade. I have cut myself wide open on one nearly to the bone. They can slice a wetsuit with no problem at all. Typically not aggressive though.

Ive scuba dived at night in 60-80 feet of water. Very scary.

imagine seeing that 36 foot shark lol, thats as long or longer than my house hahaha
