Hey guys well I am growing again but this time i wanted to try a little organic growing along with my hydro setup. My master plan is to take the 5 seedlings I have and grow them until I can sex them, take the best two(two diff strains) and turn them into mothers. I have a small cab with some cfls and good ventilation and two eight inch pots. With these i hope to keep small almost bonzai mothers and take about 4 clones per mother (eight total) every 4 months. I really want to keep these mothers completely organic because should I decide to flower them for any reason, I can see the difference between organic and hydro. I want the moms to grow but space is limited. For soil I chose scotts cactus potting soil, and then mix 2 parts soil to one part vermiculite and perilite. I also added some worm castings. Now that the seedlings are on their second real set of leaves, I am starting to look into organic ferts. I know Im not going to fert yet because they are too young, but I like to be ahead of the game. I thought about adding some blood meal to the soil but id prefer to keep my soil neutral and add the ferts through diluting them into the waterie teas ect.... Can anyone reccomend some ferts that would be good for this situation and maybe even if someone has the time explain to me some of the finer points to organic/soil growing. I dont mind them growing but I cant have them going crazy. Their growth has to be able to be controlled through lst/fming ect... Anyway thanks for all the help - Diz:rasta:

I use sunleaves bat guano and it works great. I recently combined tiger bloom and big bloom from fox farms along with the sunleaves bat guano and got good results. If you want to get more advanced here

I added earthworm castings to the initial soil mix. I have seen in the garden stores that you can buy the tea bags to make tea, but they reccomend two tea bags per quart and 4 bags are like 10 bucks. I already got some fish emulsion and kelp extract. i mixed a weak solution(600 ppm) and have been giving them half a cup of water every two days. Does the earthworm tea really make that much of a difference. They are already about 5 nodes, I am hoping the I can start them on the 12/12 by the end of next week to see if I got any females. After that then I can begin training and taking some clones so that i can have a nice x-mas present lol... Thanks for all the help guys. Any other ideas or tips is appreciated!! - Diz:rasta:

JD....check it out man....
Controlling the Mom is easy....remember a few things tho'

First....

Lighting doesn't have to be the most lumen it can handle to control growth.
Use a minimum of light for your area....this will slow her down a bit too.

Second.....

a balanced feeding is great.....but space them out between feedings. Don't create stress but if you can feed weekly or 2 weeks between waterings....this will assist in slowing her growth but yet allow her to be cloned at the rate you want of 4 clones per 4 months; you shouldn't have a problem.

My organic soil make up is very basic yet it feeds what I need fed for Moms.

I use Foxfarms Ocean Forest Soil mix....if you can't get that try an Organinc Potting soil. I added worm castings, Blood meal, Bone meal, Greensand plus, Sea Kelp and a little Sul-Po-Mag, perlite and vermiculite and a little lime to stabalize things.

I've also used Coco Coir bricks in the past that were added to this when the clones were transplanted before flowering.

Locally in a Home Depot, Lowes, WalMart and Ace Hardware
you could put together Organic potting soils, Blood and Bone meal, greensand or some sort of potassium additive for organinc soil along with epsom salt.
Epsoma has a great line of products as well.
You can find a general purpose organic food and even fish emulsions.

I also use Earth Juice products for all of my feedings along with another product called "Synergy". Bio-Genesis Synergy is an Organic Plant Stimulant that assist in what the Moms need if I am feeding too little or too far between. Like I said I try to keep the stress down on all of the plants and this seems to fit my growing situation....as you're working towards yours.

Tell if any of this info helps.....if not ...we can find a way to dial you in.
