They can probably tell by the way that your gums look, because it would maybe change the texture, color, or size of the gums. I think that there is a certain confidentiality that doctors have to be under, but I am not sure if dentists are considered as doctors in this respect, and if they are under the confidentiality rules.

they can usually tell by the gums and tar that builds up in those hard to reach places but you can always just tell them you dont brush very well.

haha yes dentists always know. my dentist didn't tell on me and neither has any of my friend's dentists. I think they just know that telling would make them a huge dick.

I don't think they'd be able to tell if you smoked pot. Cigarettes, yeah. But they are doctors and they understand confidentiality. Don't worry about it bro.

The tar builds up mostly on the back of your teeth because that area is hard to brush and many people don't make the effort. If you look at the back of your bottom teeth you will see what I mean.

I believe dentists are still covered by patient/doctor privelege. Unless you're doing something that will maliciously kill yourself or others, I don't think they can say anything.

nope, they cant, not with out your consent... if your over 13 years old, atleast in the united states, hell, to see my own piss test results, i had to sign a paper saying that i could see them, and same with my parents, i have to sign so they can see the results

when they ask if you smoke, just say yeah. if you say no, they are going to know you are smoking SOMETHING, and most wouldn't lie about smoking cigs. unless you are underaged i guess. smoke is bad for your teeth too, remember.

They can tell even if you just smoke herb. My dentist knew and I don't smoke anything but bud.

I just came back from the dentist, after a rather nice 2-year break lol. I only had one cavity, too, so that's not toooo bad. My pearly whites are still white. But no one even asked me if I smoked, so who knows what those broads think.

Now how much do you guys think you need to smoke before they would start to notice anything? lol Because next month I have to go to the dentist, it's not that it's the first time I have ever gone but, I have been smoking a lot more now that it's summer.

I couldn't believe it, my New dentist on first checkup a few days ago, not only didn't figure that I smoke (a lot too) but said I have very good teeth, And I'd been getting all paranoid that they're were going bad, but she can sort it all out for me no problem and pretty cheaply (for decent dentistry anyhow)

So aslong as you take care of your teeth (which I havn't untill Recently I might add but don't push your luck, It'll catch up with you)
Then it should be fine, drymouth is bad for your teeth, one of the main reasons speed and meth addicts get bad teeth because the saliva protects them.

Oh shit lol...so umm, does that thing with smoke and gums always last or if you stop smoking for like a month and go to the dentist can they still tell?
