i recently purchased a couple soft white 100s they are 26 watts and give off 1700 lumens. i wasnt quite aware of the fact that you shouldent touch the bulbs and when i was putting the first one in i screwed it in touching the bulb the entire time. because of that im guessing its a fire hazard because the oils on your hands can make the bulb explode when it gets hot and i should no longer use that bulb and switch to my other one correct ?

I've never even heard that i knwo that if they break you shouldn't inhale the gas emmited. you should be fine with that, i woudl suggest getting the highest wattage you can get output being around 2600 lumens. you will get that much more out of every light

well i know halogens shatter or explode whatever you want to call it if your skin oils get on em since they burn so hot so i wasnt sure if it was the same for CFLs being on the CAUTION on the back it said dont touch it. thanks for the input everyone
CFL's only break when you screw them in holding the corkscrew part.
