A similar thing happened to me once one of the branches broke but it peeled all the plants skin of on one side it was beyond repair so I took it of the skin went yellow then brown but the plant stayed alive for 2 weeks then it started to die I think it got I think it was infective with something because I thought it was going to survive

Don't feel to bad, they are very hardy :) I have a few growing outside and everytime it rains it washes some soil away and 3 or 4 always fall over/ although the stem never broke, just a little cracked. All I did was put a stake in and put some more soil around the base and in a few days they grew again and continued growing even faster then previous :) So just hope and wait remember its not a vegie, and its not a fruit, lol its a weed :o

I just had a similair emergency.. I was bending a plant, and the stem actually snapped off. I decapitated my plant!! There was no way to save it, so I took 2 cuttings from it and hope it roots.. Would a low humidity, or high temp. cause the stems to be brittle? The plants are 3-4 weeks old.
Don't mean to hijack your thread, but since it is the same topic I found it pointless to start a new thread, and it seemed you had gotten your question answered..
