I read something the other day that was suggesting a longer than 24 hour light cycle - something in the region of a 36+ cycle including dark time... has anyone tried this or heard anything else about it?

uhhh...why would you do that :confused: . i assume that you mean during veg, but that would be giving them 12 hours of dark after 24 of light. i've heard that the maximum amount of darkness for vegging plants is 6 hours. i would think that would slow down your grow a lot, if it survived. i don't know what that would do for flowering, but i think that would be too much stress. isn't it the plant's nature to flower under equal parts of light to dark?

Hi. I have never heard of what you are talking about.
But, regarding light cycles during veg state;
MJ plants have no requirement for darkness during their veg state. As long as you are providing for her increased nutrient and water needs, and for the increased heat, you can run 24 hour light cycle until you decide to flower out.
peace.

I think what you are referring to is actually a cycle shorter than 24 hours. If you go to the forums sponsored by Advanced Nutrients, there is a long thread with a guy detailing his grow on a shorter cycle. Basically he got a digital camera, and 15 days into flowering he switched the light cycle to 6:40 on, 12 off. That way every week he picked up about 2 days. He said he didn't notice a difference in yield/quality, and they finished sooner. Swing by their website, he posted a lot of pictures to verify the results he was having.

No the thing i was refering to was less days on/off in the week. It took longer 2 flower but yeilded a bit more. The thing was was it worth the extra time for what extra bud you got.

thanks guys - yeah I was refering to the veg cycle. Feel like a bit of noob though as I was aware you can run them under lights 24hours a day - I am assuming that this does have a positive impact on the amount of growth achieved.
However I am really interested in the flowering cycle stuff - taking longer to get bud is fine as I'm wanting to produce the best quality product I can. Thanks for the pointer to advanced nutrients forum... off there now. Cheers. Peace. Grow Well.

I try to use, or emulate nature whenever I can. It's just ... right.
