Odd smell

First of all I hope I'm posting this in the right place so if not, then whoever is in charge pls feel free to move it as you see fit!

Anyway earlier I just tried a new batch of a weed from a newish dealer whom I know through a good friend. The leaves look normal but that typical cannabis smell is not very strong and maybe still very slightly damp. Anyway, I smoked it, and smelling it again, there is definitely a weird smell/taste to it. Can't really describe what it smells like but it's just... odd. Almost pungent, perfume-y or sweet. Supposedly it's Australian bushweed which I'm not that used to, I smoke more hydro.

What kinda stuff could be causing this, any ideas? I really don't want to part with my stash :( .... thanks guys

Ummm....pics may help. Just sounds like you got a strain you're not used to, that's all. I recently had some Cinderella 99 and it was the first time I encountered weed that had a citrus smell...almost lemony...and the smell stayed even after blazing. A few months before that, I had some skunk that smelled like blueberries. But when you blazed, it surely smelt like skunk.

Thanks Big Calhoun for the reply... so it can be normal for it to just smell more of something else than the typical smell? I guess maybe the dampness could also affect the smell a little?

Yeah, that bud looks OK. Could be that it's damp or could be the strain, but I don't think you have much to worry about. So of the afficanados will probably be able to tell you what strain it is by looking at it. But just off the cuff, it looks fine...enjoy it!

And I would appreciate if anyone else could clue me into as to the strain so I can get some more peace of mind.... yes, yes I know I'm a paranoid smoker, but hey I just want to be sure I'm not putting any disgusting shit in my body!

its normal to get diffrent smells with different strains....

It's just a differnt strain thats all. And hydro aint a strain, its just a method of growing

that isnt the best weed out there but there deffinently isnt anything wrong with it, weed doesnt always smell the same, just smoke it

maby you should look into curing if its damp still especially if it smokes harsh.

thats cool, i got about 4 grams 2 days ago. It looked the same as what i usually get but the smell was heaps different, it was a very light smell (like what your smelling ;)) it seems very fruity.

Thanks everyone, I'm relieved to hear that it looks OK. I've been smokin pretty much daily for a number of years and had never come across this smell really. I usually smoke hydro but I've smoked the bushweed and the half&half stuff too and just never encountered a strain like this.
I had some last night and got pretty blazed LOL :stoned:
And I'm curing it out a little more now, just in case the dampness was a factor.
I'm just really wary of smoking too many unnecessary chemicals and stuff, also why I don't use tobacco etc.
Thanks again for the input, great to find people who know what they're talking about :p

PS: I was told before I bought it that it was damn fantastic and now I know what they meant! :D
