Hello. I'm Lex, 21 year old aspiring botanist from Binghamton, NY, USA. Not really sure what should go in this introduction, so I'll ignore the proper form and go with tried-and-true standbys.
I like music. I like playing it, listening to it, creating it. My definition of "music" is much different from Johann Sebastian Bach's, although I enjoy the space his music occupies in the realm of all sound. On the other hand, I'm a lazy consumer, and I do listen to some of the same stuff as everyone else. Some bands you may have heard of that continue to amaze me with their musicianship: Ween, They Might Be Giants, King Crimson, Radiohead, Mr. Bungle (or any band with Mike Patton), Queens of the Stoned Age.
I like altered states of consciousness and scoff at the notion that sobriety is "the" way to be. Of course, it is the state that we revert back to when the drugs are out of our system, but don't you find yourself reverting back to the state of being on drugs afterwards just as often? (: (Where "on drugs" refers to being undoubtedly affected by ingested chemicals, be they first-hand or second-hand sources i.e. the chemicals in pure form or extracted from plants containing them.) I've been smoking pot for about 3 years and ingesting other mind-altering substances for a slightly shorter period of time. My favorites so far are psilocin (shrooms), the lysergic acids (LSA, LSD), alcohol, and of course the cannabinoids (pot). My least favorite is DXM.
I dislike the notion of government, not because I have political views but because it inconveniences me in particular. I realize that governmental power is an illusion, but when a majority of people believe in an illusion, it's hard to escape its real power (the solidarity of a nationally acting group, rather than the solidarity of a group which does nothing but agree on things in theory - e.g. the difference between the Christian church and atheism). Going with this theme, rather than trying to "better the world" (like that statement isn't riddled with subjectivity), my plan is to start growing and selling with an unnamed friend who's willing to take me on as an accomplice, for I do like having money despite being disgusted at the system which makes it a convenient thing to have.
That's all I'd care to say.
