I read a book years back called Smack by Melvin Burgess. Reminded me of Go Ask Alice. It's set in Britain though I think and heroin is the drug of choice. Here's the amazon link ---> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0380732238/qid=1151873149/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-8760142-2968760?s=books&v=glance&n=283155

If you're into to the whole "reaching rock bottom" theme check out Wasted by Marya Hornbacher. I read it for a paper I did in an English class. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060930934/qid=1151879356/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-8760142-2968760?s=books&v=glance&n=283155
