ok it's been a real long time since i posted on here but i still read up from time to time anyway i want some of your opinions on my situation.....
So i was at work and within the first five minutes of work i accidentally dropped a real heavy piece of equipment (to be honest i don't even know what it was) on my foot. Luckily i was wearing steel toed work boots, but the boots are about 4 sizes too large and the steel part hardly covers my toes lol...my stupidity and laziness in not trying them on before i bought them....anyways.....this heavy piece of shit was around 70-100 pounds and landed on my big toe/part of my foot that connects to the big toe like in that area.
So i told my supervisor and he had me work the rest of the shift doing whatever else i could to help out and try to meet are shifts goals on deadline. so after the shift i talked to a higher up manager and he told me that it couldnt be broken because i had worked on it all shift and i wouldnt be able to do that if i had broken it, in my opinion he is ignoring the fact that maybe i have a decent pain tolerance and didnt let it bother me too much. so a day has passed and im now back from working yet another shift on my shitty foot. it feels as though the big toe is getting better but the main part of the foot that goes to the big toe feels as bad as ever. i talked to my boss today and he doesn't want me to go to the hospital to get it xrayed because again i've been working on it so it can't possibly be broken...but he gave me the sheet in case i do decide to go get it looked at.he wants me to give it some more time to heal before wasting company money and having an injury that counts against the company for the year as this is bad i guess....hehe....so my options at this point are
1 to go to the doctor to get it xrayed thru the work places insurance and in the process piss off my boss...who in turn could at worst fire me for not listening to him
2 go to the doctor thru my own insurance and see if its broken if not then i wont say anything to my boss and just pay for the xray out of pocket and if it is broken then have them pay for it
3 try and break my foot even more to make sure it is broken before i go do option 1 or 2
basically im scared to go the hospital for xrays cuz i dont want to make my boss mad but at the same time i want to know if my foot is broken so i can get it fixed incase it heals wrong and then i have to go back in later and rebreak it and have surgery to fix it ...all being paid for likely by me.....
so what do you think?
hehe sorry i wrote a book

Go to the doctor. He cant fire you and if he does you have not only maybe a broken toe but a law suit also.

i think, as worker, you have the right to leave when you want to go get it checked out, its your body not his, who is he to say if you're okay or not. i hardly think he has a Ph.D. and therefore is not qualified to tell you if you're okay or not.
you should definately get it checked out. what kind of boss is that, that is just stupid.

yah im jsut scared its not broken and then he will be right and i will have wasted there time and money etc.... btw im not saying he will just directly fire me but im lucky im working in the spot i am right now and all it would take is for ihm to move me to a different area and id be fucked i jsut dont want to get on his bad side essentially...blah so no votes for really making sure my foot is broken first eh? haha and i was really considering it lol

Don't be ridiculous about trying to break your own foot. That's crazy.
Just be an adult and go have your foot checked. If you're not gutsy enough to have it checked on your company's bill, you can pay for it outright. A doc's visit and a foot X-ray shouldn't be more than $200, and it may be a lot less. Your boss is trying to save money, but if he fires you for going to check on a work-related injury, the folks at the Occupational Safety Hazard Administration will be happy to listen to your complaint, as will the workers' compensation authority in your state. You need to have the injury checked within 72 hours, too, so you need to go tomorrow.
Just do it. He doesn't have the right to try and intimidate you not to check on your own health, and frankly by letting him get away with that, you're now sharing in that irresponsibility, too.

Go to the Doc. You have a work related injury. Are these people qualified doctors? No, they are not. Don't listen to his asshats. Go to the doc.
The bad news is that since you have a work-related injury your company might test your piss.......

Go to the doctor because if you wait you could really damage your foot to the point of surgery and months in a cast and then your employer would be really pissed off

option 4 - pimpslap ur boss.. twice
no im jk hahah definetly get it checked outtt, my dad (doctor) says that sometimes broken bones are less painful then if u sprain something and theres no way to really tell unless u get an xray. so get the xray with ur companys money and im sure ur boss will get over it soon enough!

anytime you have a work related accident...the company is required by Law to write an incident report and send you to the DR. immediately.
1st...Is this a job you plan on making a career out of, or just something to get by until something better comes along?
I would talk to a Lawyer; Especially since they prompted you not to seek medical attention. They broke the law keeping you on shift after you asked for assistance.
Remember Lawyer works on a contingency basis 33% in these type cases. Costs you nothing up front. Only trick is...Finding lawyer who believes you have a case.
Are you in a Union? Union reps would eat this up!
I am not saying jeopardize your job, but You are entitled to medical treatment by Law...That is a fact. peace, and I hope you make it through OK.

Have a good one!
you could go to the doc but even if it is broken there's nothing they can do for it beyond taping it to the toe next-door. making a big deal about it may bring on drug tests if it hasn't already...so tread lightly...lol

True, How true, In fact that what I thought this thread was going to be about m.g. "I dropped 100lbs. on my foot and now they are making me take a drugtest to keep my Job!"

a lot of times a company will reimburse for the xray if the bone is broken.

huh? you must have me confused with someone else...
but i have broken my right big toe twice and know what they do for it and i'm telling ya, you're better off just saying nothing and suffering through it...especially if connected with work and you have thc in your system. any claim you put on them and you can bet they'll be testing...

God Fuck and Damn those who make others suffer because they don't know what it means to have your cannabinoid receptors (60-something different types) working to their full capacity, and to their advantage.
