my friend, grandmother, and oncle have diabetes. its not the end of the world, we still blaze (the friend.. not grandmother). you should be fine off, but definatley see a doctor to confirm your diagnosis.
my cousin has diabetes. And she has a perfectly normal life besides this thing she wears on her hip that pumps insulin into her body.

Go to a Pharmacy and see if they have a test... Diabetes run in my family,it ultimately killed my father cause he was a alcoholic to boot... Basically there is diff degrees of the disease, some control it by diet alone and like Halo's cousin need insulin to control it..
Get tested cause it's nothing to play with...

Perhaps you should make an appointment with your family Dr. or a specialist in that field.
What symptoms do you have that leads you to believe that you may be getting ill?

There are different types of diabetes. I'm know about type 2, because I have it. Type 2 is caused by insulin resistance and is usually detected in adults. I was just recently diagnosed at age 49. Currently my treatment consists of diet/excercise/oral medication.
Type 1 is usually detected in children, and I know nothing about that kind, although I believe that they more likely require insulin.
The best way to find out is to get a physical with a family doctor. Having symptoms of diabetes doesn't mean you have it .... having family members with diabetes makes it more likely that you might ..... having other risk factors like obesity or cardiological problems make it more important to detect early.

Symptoms are feeling run-down and tired.
And you drink a lot more than normal therefore you pee more.
These are the most known symptoms probly more.

I had gestational diabetes with 2 of my babies..my dad was diagnosed at 42. It's not a big deal if you control it....and, actually a diabetic diet is really, for the most part, the kind of diet everyone should have...sick or not..balanced healthy meals, regular snacks, moderation in eating sweets, exercise is also good... if you are sick , that sucks, but it could be 10xs worse....

there are alot of preventive measures you can take also like muncheemama said. get off your fatass and exercise, run, shake that jelly off. dont eat alot of processed foods and fried foods. try eating fresh fruit and vegetables as snacks. drink water instead of soda and take vitamins.

if you lose 10% of your body weight(10 lbs for every 100), you could cut your risk of disease, by alot...idk how much...
Losing 10% isnt really that hard...you could cut out small things and lose ten pounds...soda, fast food, etc...and make sure you eat breakfast, so you can keep your blood sugars stable...and exercise is a natural way to keep sugars low...depending on how old you are and how overweight you are, you can definitely control diabetes with diet and exercise. good luck

my dads a diabetic. Has been for many years. The symptoms are this..... waking up in the middle of the night to urinate frequently, run down and low on energy, poor blood circulation for example - legs falling asleep frequently and if bad enough, bruises occuring on the legs. My father has all of them, not to mention hes eye color has changed ( i forget why ). Any how the best thing to do is eat a meal and about 20 - 30 min, take your blood sugar. Since you have relatives that have DB they should be able to take ur Blood sugar, i believe normal Blood sugar is 100 - 115. Good luck man.
