thinking about growing under 400 w hps to start just in dirt and will try hydro next but just needing help on what hours of light and what hour dark is the cycle for veging and how long untill i go 12/12???here the light system i plan to use oh and how many plants will i be able to start with under that light systems

when you veg.. you need to keep the lights on for a minimum of 18 hours...

you could grow 9 plants nicely in a 3 x 3 or 4 x 4 square...

just know the transformer is mounted on the inside of that hood and it will produce lots of heat. It's better to get one with a remote ballast so you can locate the ballast (transformer) outside of your grow area to save the heat.

Yeah, go digi. Will run MH or HPS, uses less juice, too.

you can go 12/12 at six weeks or when the plants are a foot or so high, but the older and more vegged out the plant is, the more potent the flowers will ultimately be. it's sometimes good to keep a confirmed female in its veg state for an indefinite period, while her contemporaries are harvested all around. whenever you force her to flower, the yield will be huge and buds more potent
