Lets see; I'm not living in a chateau in France... I don't have my own private vineyard thats been converted into a marijuana farm... no Lamborghinis, Ferraris or Maseratis in my garage... I don't have a supermodel thats infatuated with me... I don't go fishing with Sean Connery on the weekends at his castle... I don't go on breakfast runs with George Clooney and Brad Pitt on my Kawasaki Hayabusa...

I'd say I don't earn enough.

i make 8/hr working at borders.

My girlfriend works at a borders. In california. That's a wierd coincidence. So are you cafe? My girlfriend mostly does about 50/50 on the MInfo desk and cafe. She likes it. I'm not sure I would.

I'm freelance. REALLY good weeks I make 30 and hour, and some weeks I don't do any work at all, and don't get paid. It's not a very secure job, but it's getting me through college, so I guess I can't ask for much more.

And I'm a helpless college student, forced to spend what spare money I do have on books. Luckily I've got an academic scholarship, otherwise I couldn't even afford clothes! Soon enough I'll have my money. Or not. It doesn't really matter that much to me, but rather if I have a good, happy life.

Well i dont know about all of them but i assure you that some of these people live at home. My situation is that I goto college which is down the street where my parents live, so i live there for free.

I also have a car which is payed off and runs well, so theres nothing to pay for other than maintinence fees and gass(which i pay but isnt a big deal)

Then i work and make what 7.50 an hour which is ok, but before i was making tons of money Delivering pizzas. I make $300 every 2 weeks but b4 i was making about $500 in two weeks and thats only in tips, then a paycheck for $250...it was nice. So since i dont have to pay for much, i spend my money on food, clothes, weed, car, and whatever i can manage during the budget of that day.

To me it shows most of the posters on this board are 1) in high school 2) in college working where they can or 3) of college age and at a point where they're trying to figure where they're going in life. I only make 9.83 an hour but I also get full medical and dental benefits, tuition reimbursement, and because I work in a school, I only have to work 10 months a year plus I get paid days off for any days the kids are off. I'm only 22 and I don't want to be doing what I do now for the rest of my life, but I don't feel bad about where I'm at.

I do have to say though that if the average poster were a 38 year old part-time mcdonald's worker living in her parents' basement, then I'd agree with you.

Get into a utility. Everyone is always going to need and/or want things like lights, phones, cable, gas, water. The company may change hands and do other odd things (hopefully not 'Enron') but its usually a pretty steady employment situation...usually. That or public service...bus driver, subway conductor. Hell, if you want to make some SERIOUS moolah, you move down here and work offshore...oil rigs, research rigs, and the like. It's some hard work though.

either you're bullshitting or just plain rude. if you're honest then you should be telling us WHAT you do for crying out loud. you make nearly $100/hr and you're going back to school? $16k a month if you do 40hrs? you make $145k a year? psychiatry maybe?

either you're bullshitting or just plain rude. if you're honest then you should be telling us WHAT you do for crying out loud. you make nearly $100/hr and you're going back to school? you're making over six figures right now and you work PART TIME! what other job could you possibly want? that's anyone's dream.

my wife's sister makes $40/hr teaching music leasons to kids, and that's quite something IMHO.

i resell on ebay. mostly laptops/electronics. it has it's ups and downs. i've been providing suplimental income while i'm in school, but i plan to pump the business up full time. it takes some work, a lot of learning, and the ability to ride out dry-deal periods, and make massive buys when i find deals on items. for example, i might buy 20-40 dell laptops at a time and resell them on ebay. say pay $600 for each, resell for $800 (optimistically). i lose about $100 of that to ebay/paypal fees, shipping, etc. then $100 profit per laptop. so you do the math. USUALLY however it's more like $50 pure profit though, so there you go. and sometimes there are no deals to be found. it's ok for now, but not forever. MANAGING risk is the key. but honestly, i'd suggest reselling to anyone to try it on the side starting off. it's easy to get lured in, but you have to be terribly careful of scams, they'll come at you from every direction. you have to protect yourself, and you have to protect your merchandise, especially if you've got $20k worth of laptops in your house. it's a good way to learn about basic retail though, and once you know how to sell and find deals it will help you on everything. i spend a bit of time on fatwallet, and the folks there are rather into this method. however, most of us won't give out our "secret" niche markets. i don't really have one yet (laptops is standard fare) so there you go

I think quite a few people on this site already know what Birdgirl does. So before you call her a bullshitter or claim that she is rude, maybe you should do a little research first.

I know a man selling Grow Gear via ebay. I think its all equipment from raids off big ops. He said he makes £1k/week profit just shifting balasts and box fans alone. I've seen the stock and there is a fair bit. Ebay sellin of big equipment requires space in your yard.

I could make 150k pa sellin smoothies but i can't be bothered. Many people have ideas but are just too fkin lazy like me to do nowt!! Or what we do is top secret so we say what we like and lead people round and round the garden path.

Thanks, Binzhou, for the reply to Forwonderbear, who, to my way of thinking, is actually the one who needs to work on his manners.

What I posted is quite true, Forwonder, as my yearly W2 forms will attest, and if you'll read a bit more about me, you'll learn that I work very hard at not being deliberately rude. My recommendation that people stay in school has very valid backing among experts who know that education makes a big difference in earning power.

I am a senior speechwriter and marketing consultant for a large high-tech company. I've been doing this sort of work for 17 years and have three degrees. There are lots of people who make a lot more than this doing what I do.

I'm 44, married, and have one grown son, all circumstances that make it possible for me to work part-time. The school I'm about to return to is medical school.

Thanks, Haze! I hate to tell you this, but I'm not Jewish. Are you thinking of TootsieRoll, perhaps?

I come from a long line of Protestant Christians. . . .

LOL, no, I'm not a stripper, I am a photographer. Events vary from weddings, anniversaries, graduations, birthdays, fashion shows, etc. I've taken many photos of strippers, both men and women.

I make 1 minute of music an hour (but that depends on how long I tweak the sounds)
Or aprox. 50 grams of humanwaste...
Also (if it's 20 degrees celcius) 3 ml of sweat...
Usualy I make 1/8 of a joint per hour (ofcourse depending on how much joints I smoke that day, but usually it's 3 a day)

I was making $12/hr (CDN) unloading trucks, but it was so mind numbingly boring, that I quit to find something that doesn't put me to sleep, so, who knows what jobs are in store for me. Now, I'm just living off my savings and it's going too fast. :p
