Hi There,

At the moment , I am growing in the atic and the temps get into the high 90s
cause in summer its like a sauna up there. What about air coolers ,do they work?
I have a 200mm intake & 200 mm out fan, and osculating fan and a dihumidifirer
all under a 400wt system. I do run the lights when the sun goes down, to try and keep the temps down.My last grow Oasis from Dutch passion(feminised) turned into hemafridites and i got a crap yeild, but loads of seeds. never again will i buy feminised seeds.I am now growing Blueberry (yummy) .
And 1 last thing,Training or pruning? witch is the best for indoor growing.
I find training a lot of work and you end up with lots of stems and buds everywhere. If i prune to have 4 main stems and leave it to grow then is this recomended?

Thanks for the help people,

Cheers,
Chef.

I used an inline fan from an old air-hockey table, with 4" ducting pumping air up through the ceiling to a sealed 3x4x5 box in attic(left it on 24/7, was pretty cold in spring! then HOT.), kept temps btw 68-80 and didn't need an exhaust fan, the box stayed pressurized (when door was closed)and was forced out a right-angle exhaust port, had one adapted PC fan for movement in side box, worked pretty well.

Your problem is you have heat comming from the top and below your grow. If you can seal off your grow space you can add one of the portable A/C unites. That should work. The hermies were not from them I bet it was a temperature problem from the sound of your grow area.(just a guess) Heat stress is the #1 cause for a good plant to turn hermie.

4x5! You got it all laid out! Can ya tell me what CFM the hockey table fan is? I'd think it would be a 300 or better! Pressurized with the passive system you have! fresh-air from below, with the box being insulated of course!Buy a roll of ducting insulation it's even got a silver finish.silver tape to help keep the construction work being done!Use that foam celitex board for the walls. It comes in 4x8 sheets. No screws, nailing, sawing, hammering! razor knife. You can just score the board with ya knife on one side and fold it! Now you can get it in any scuttle-hole there is!Tape the score line back with 3 inch foil tape!Just some ideas!

I spent many a summer with my grandfather installing roof turbine vents. They're in the ballpark of $40-60...makes a HUGE difference in the temp of an attic...the hot air naturally rises up on its own, as well as the prevailing winds spin them plenty fast enough that they suck heat out no problems.

The install is fairly easy too. That and, keeping the attic cooler means your a/c won't have to work so hard.

My attic has 2 rooms, and yes, it stinks.

I have an a/c in one and the grow in the other, with fans in between, so the cold air does not blow right on the plants.

I just started using silica supplements to help the kids with heat stress.

Luckily New England has been getting hammered with rain all summer. Keeps things a little cooler.

I am counting down the days until my tenant moves out and I can go back to the GORGEOUS growroom in my cellar!
